Hi everyone. On the verge of quitting - hope to-morrow is going go be The Day. So good to read all the stuff on this site. Smoking 20 a day for too many years. Have tried to quit a few times but something difficult always comes along & I seem to go back. Also, when I quit I find I spend a lot of time thinking about how much I must have already damaged my body & the stress of that makes me want a cigarette! Trying hard to adopt a really positive attitude but also find that difficult when I am not smoking. My late father was a medical researcher who spent all his life working on cancer research & I feel so bad about that too - feel I am letting him down. Would welcome any comments.

Hi JT and welcome, Read and read more here, and post. This site has supported me more than I can express, so take full advantage of this place, the support and love here, and the info. Just take it one moment, one day at a time. Don't get ahead of yourself and hold on very tight. Quitting is a very rough ride for most of us, but with a tight, secure seatbelt (focus and determination) you can do it. Get some detailed clarity about why you're quitting, build your toolbox of proactive behaviors so you have them to call on when this addiction tries to suck you back in... And just make up your mind to Quit, and most importantly, to STAY QUIT... JT Welcome to the Stop Smoking Centre. There is a whole lot of information here, both in the Program Tools that are on the left and in the support group on line where we are right now. Reading and posting, have for me, moved my mind from the thoughts that I had and gave me an activity to do instead of lighting up that next smoke. There are a lot of very supportive and helpful people here on this site. Use the tools here, educate and inform yourself, find out why you want to quit and wfat you will get from quitting. AND keep it real simple just don't smoke. Keep posting let us know how you are doing.
