I found that drinking a couple of glasses of OJ helped on my physical withdrawal days ... the first week of nicotine getting out of my system. What you are feeling is normal. After the nicotine gets out completely ... approx. 3 weeks (the first week being the worst) ... you will start feeling more like your old self again ... only BETTER!!! cheermom, Yes it will get better. Your body is detoxing right now and it's also repairing itself. The dizziness is most likely a result of your brain trying to adjust with this new surplus of oxygen it's getting. If you don't notice an improvement or worsening in the next two weeks, see your family doctor, your dose may need to be adjusted. Your sleeping a lot because your body does the most repair during this time. If it really bothers you, you can try exercising as it raises energy levels. Hope this helps, keep persevering! Well I've made it through the weekend and want to continue my quit, but I've never slept so much in my entire life. I'm now sitting at work trying to figure out how to take a nap here too. Does this get better? I also have extreme dizziness and "spacing out" (depth perception) and its really uncomfortable. I had tried quiting cold-turkey a couple weeks ago and that didn't work so I saw my family physician. My doctor said its not because of the rpescription I'm on to help with my quit, just the withdrawal symptoms considering I've smoked for over 20 years and quite a bit at that. Just want to know that this will pass. Oh and by the way, it hasn't crossed my mind to start up again because who would want to go through these symptoms again NO WAY!! Cheermom, Of course it gets better!!! Quitting smoking is definately not easy, but it is simple ~ you just don't smoke. Your body is healing. All of the feelings you are expirencing is normal. I had a mad case of the dizziness!! But it eventually went away. I am a stay at home mom, so I was able to nap every day. Each persons quit is different though. Drink tons of water, and suck on hard candies. Munch on cold fruit and veggies. Anything. But just do not smoke. I don't blame you about not wanting to smoke again, I would not want to go through hell week again!! Stay strong and fight this!! You can win!! ;) 4my2girls What Consumes Your Thoughts Controls Your Life My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 99 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,983 Amount Saved: $323.73 Life Gained: Days: 8 Hrs: 0 Mins: 0 Seconds: 27

Hang in there Cheermom! You can do it! These symptoms your are experiencing are all part of the healing. We've all gone through some of this and YES, it does get better with time. Keep comin' back to the board. It has been great support for me. Good Luck and make sure you reward yourself at intervals.
