Sian, sometimes quitting smoking brings on other issues...tension, anxiety, etc. You might try some deep relaxation, meditation, stretching, etc. I found some tapes that were made for just laying on the floor and relaxing all your muscles. If that doesn't help, you might check with your doctor.
Lana, 3galeh is right. Water will help flush that salt, but try to avoid eating too much salt and drinking too much soda if possible. Lots of foods you buy have salt in them too.
