I slipped......

Don't beat yourself up over this. Everyone makes mistakes. Just learn from this and move on. Remembering how bad cigarettes taste and smell should help. I have gained weight since I quit, but the weight gain isn't as bad as smoking. Keep strong and kick the habit. Alexa, Don't be so hard on yourself. I didn't just slip, I went back to smoking completely and I feel like dirt. I have two grandchildren that I am raising, and I keep asking myself, "if I love them more than I do myself, and if I do, why am I still smoking." Because if I love them more than myself, I would put them first and quit, so they wouldn't be exposed to the smoke. I have changed my quit date to June. Between now and then, I will start cutting down and going places without taking my cigarettes with me.Quitting isn't an option for me anymore, it is a must.

Hi Thanks everyone for your kind words. I am still smoke free. I went back on Wellbutrin, just in case. I had no urge yesterday after my little slip. I am still mad at myself about it, but I hope that it will teach me a lesson. And today is my day 70!!!!! Hi everyone, At almost 70 days I have slipped. I had 3 puffs today. I did it not because I had an urge (I rarely have those anymore), but because I felt depressed. I can't loose extra pounds no metter what. I am on a strict diet, I work out at the gym 5 days a week, I lost 5 lb in the first month since I quit smoking and nothing after that. I drives me crazy. When I smoked, I could loose weight very easy. But now, nothing works. I understand that it is not the reason to go back to smoking, I am just explaining how I felt when I had those puffs today. Cigarette tasted awful, smelled even worse and I feel very ashamed about my slip. It is my first quit after 40+ years of smoking, I was doing pretty good, and now this stupid slip. But I am not going to dwell on it and I am not going to reset my meter BECAUSE I AM NOT GOING TO SMOKE. I am still taking it one day at a time and today was not a good day. Bubba, That's exactly how I feel now. More depressed because I let myself slip. I wish I didn't have this stupid cigarette today, but I did and there is nothing I can do about it now. I just hope that the way I feel now will prevent me from trying again. Hi alexa - So get back up on that horse armed like never before, brush yourself off and get back to work. What you do w/your meter you do... Just make sure to be honest w/yourself about it... And today will be day one again? Make it a HUGE DAY ONE for yourself. And don't let weight gain, depression or anything else become an excuse for smoking, dear one. I spent almost 1 week in and out of bed just up until last night or so. I cannot explain the ugly fog I have been in, but with determination and just BEING with the fog and depression, it is finally lifting and I can see the sunlight! Friends, your Quit family here, Spirit - whatever and whomever you lean on and care about, reach out when you need love and support and I promise it will be there for you just as it has been for me. This Quit business separates the boys from the men, the little girls from the women, man it is damn hard work, and YOU CAN DO THIS one moment at a time... with help! hi Alexa, We quit around the same time and I'm sorry to hear about your slip but just forget about it and jump right back in you know that 3 puffs makes you feel worse than if yoou hadn't had any. I'd rather be a chubby nonsmoker tan a skinny smoker besides pretty soon I will be starting an exewrcise program. Right now I have back problems . Just make sure you don't have any cigs and lighter around the house and watch out when you go to gas station or quick stop markets so you don't buy any. Get out the straws. Would you have to through the Hell week and all for just 3 puffs No I am not thinking of doing it. judy My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 73 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,914 Amount Saved: $146 Life Gained: Days: 10 Hrs: 14 Mins: 9 Seconds: 39

Hi Alexa - Good for you for getting right back into your quit! I have been doing the Zone diet since I quit and I have to say it was easy at first and the weight came off - now I am at a stand still - even probably gaining. Don't know what that's all about but I'm not smoking! It's depressing as heck. So...you learned what you were supposed to learn with this little slip...it's nasty and you don't want to do it again. Again I say - Good for YOU!
