Morningglory, Stay strong and positive. Right now it may seem like you are on this emotional roller coaster, many members have been at this point in their quit. Hang tight, it does get better. Try - as hard as it may be - to not focus on the future but focus on the hear and now. I understand that you are on patch 2, wow, this is great! Stay positive and focus on the fact that you have come this far with great success. You have reached 43 days smoke-free, there is nothing that would indicate to me that you would be nothing than successful with moving forward. You can and will do this!!! Stay strong, Melanie _____________________ The SSC Support Team

Hey morningglory, Your post makes perfect sense to me...! I'm not as far into my quit as you are, but it makes me feel better that other people feel that same way. I've read alot of your post's elsewhere, and you seem very strong in your quit. Hang in there and fight it!!! Take care, Ron My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/12/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 32 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,132 Amount Saved: $216 Life Gained: Days: 5 Hrs: 0 Mins: 16 Seconds: 35

Hi and Thank you all! As usual you have all helped me renew my strenght in quitting. sometimes it seems like I could do this and then there are other days. I hope one day this is a distant memory and we dont even remember when we quit because smoking is not such an issue for us all. Thank you for listening and responding. Hi all, I am doing ok with my quit but today I am feeling sorry for my self and I dont know why. I am so mad that I still am getting cravings its like day 44 and I dont feel as strong as I do other days. I have no intention on giving in but I guess I am just feeling sorry for myself and at the same time I am mad at myself for still wanting one. I know all the good reasons why I am not smoking but that sense of what I once enjoyed pops in and I feel sad. my post probably doesnt even make sense because I feel like I am just rambling on. I am on patch 2 and I am scared of the day there are no patches if these urges come when I am on the patch what will it be like when I am off. Thanks for listening. Hi morning glory, i too have days when i feel sorry for myself, it is very much like a rolercoaster. Something that might cheer you up though is that at 4.30 today i realised that i had forgotton my patch (again), this is why i have 5 children because of my bad memory, anyway back to the point, i felt pretty good today so i do not think there is anything to fear except fear itself, hope you are feeling more positve real soon. Morninglory Some days are good and some not so good. Remember when we smoked we had bad days then too. You smoked for years and although 44 days is a lot and it is a huge accomplishment it is very small in comparison to all the days you smoked. Be kind to yourself. You are recovering from an addiction that had a hold on you for many years. Allow yourself time to feel everything the quitting process brings for that is how you will grow in your quit. Things get better, it just takes time. Congratulations on 44 Days! That is Awesome! Morningglory, Being angry is part of the process. We all grieve when we give up on smoking. Its part of the healing. Smoking has been our companion for many years, and just as if we lost a loved one, we have lost our long time partner. It was by our choice, but we still have memories, and as long as we do, we will remember the good times rather than the bad. Don't look at it as having to give it up. Find a positive message that works for you and memorize it. Keep repeating it. And remember acceptance is a way off yet. But you have been through denial, bargining, and now anger...all normal. Just keep up one day, or one minute at a time and you will get past. And spend some time planning for the healthy moments in your new life. Practice new exercises, plan a trip, look forward to your next goal. And call when you need to hear from us... someone will be here. The thing that you "think" you are missing....the thing you recall as "enjoyable".....it was one thing and one thing only....feeding your addiction....answering the stress of it with a fix. that stress of addiction is what yet calls to you...promising you satisfaction and comfort. and it's really a bunch of lies, cause what causes the stress in the beginning is the addiction to nicotine! Satisfying your addiction teaches you the falsehood that smoking is pleasurable, that it's a buddy and friend. Take a closer look....your companion is a killer! It's also dirty and disgusting. I realize that at present, telling you this is like a parent talking about the rebel boyfriend....you tend to think that no one realizes how you feel...that your relationship with nicotine is somehow different. believe me, it isn't......Ole Nic is involved with each and every ONE of us....and he's a fickle lover....a bit like the devil, he will deceive us till the end. Achieving 40-50 days is a tremendous accomplishment....but it's still a young quit and you have much to accept and adjust to. Don't let yourself be impatient....just take the present.....and don't forget a reward program. Rewarding yourself is way under rated and truly needed to progress quickly. Get a list of rewards to look forward to. and they don't all have to cost an arm and a leg. treat yourself to little things each day. Focus on the NEW you. and please believe me.....thinking about smoking LEAVES you. You can't believe what the freedom of that tastes like. Hang tough and kick butt and 'get 'er done'. this is something that you will forever thank yourself for doing! I promise!
