I agree with Bubbles, there is time you allocated to smoke that now seems like "what do I do"??? Take the dog/kids for a long walk, do the big puzzles that take up the whole table, re-arrange your closets. While at work, I climb the stairs when I used to haul myself downstairs and outside to smoke. If ever there was a great reminder of why you quit, being able to climb 14 flights of stairs and breathing easy is a HUGE ONE!!! I'm making this work for me. I will take my breaks and just do something other than smoke!

Hey G, Were in this together... hang in there. Like you, this is the longest I've been smoke free for almost 30 years. I don't believe the "Cravings last one minute" garbage either. Day 12 (last Friday) was the killer for me... (My "HELP!!!" Posts) Soon I hope I'll have good days. :) Take care, Ron My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/12/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 16 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 573 Amount Saved: $108 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 12 Mins: 56 Seconds: 42

Hey there guys! The only thing I know is, when you think about the crave, it lasts longer. I too had these all day craves in the beginning. But what I didnt realize is that I when the crave came on, I never stopped thinking about it. I said, "when will this end... I want a cig sooooo bad..... Oh how can I get through this... etc....................." I never thought about anything else but how hard it was. I think that is how come it lasted so long. It went to "normal", lasting only a few minutes when I decided to change my thinking. When the crave hit, I took it for what it was -- healing. I didnt think about the smoking part. I told myself I was healing. Then it passed, and I quickly changed my thoughts. Try this. I'm sure once you stop thinking of how bad you want to smoke, you'll start to feel better. Stay strong! Dont cheat -- your only cheating yourself. Hi, I too felt the same way that these cravings last longer then a couple of minutes. Some of them do and I have some that like you seem to last forever. I wonder if you like me are a dweller. Is it the urge or are we dwelling on it. I dont think I know how to take my mind off of onething and focus on another. I am right around that 30 day and I was having a really hard time and I felt big deal if I smoke.I do enjoy it, if only I could have one or two a day I would be a happy camper. But then I realize it will hurt and this is the junkie talking.I find this site has been a great help to me. Reading and posting has helped me.I never thought writing could help but it really does.Good luck to you as we know quitting is never easy fun winning is gratifying. We can do it we just have to keep the fight and not let the poison win. G, Hang tough it does get easier. Wow there is a lot of great advise here some I just read is helping me too. For me in the begining i slept more than normal and would take my dogs for alot of walks. Also at home my boyfriend who quit with me and my son put together hard puzzles we are on our 3rd 1,500 piece puzzle for us it helps distract us when we crave at home. Find something for yourself that will work for you and stay strong! Hey G- No, it won't go on forever, but it is a constant battle with your mind. I never had cravings much in the beginning, look at my days, Sunday was awful. Another night I thought I was going to hyper-ventilate so I sat breathing in a paper bag. Took several minutes to calm down. Mine too have certainly lasted longer than a few minutes. More like an hour or a whole evening. I have been on the patch, now down to 7 mg, and of course the cravings are more, but I have worked hard on the habit part (35 years) Walking, reading, just going out in the fresh air, getting into this site and only reading if you want all helps. It isn't easy but worth it. Keep up the fight. You will win. You just hang in there OK. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/17/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 39 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,181 Amount Saved: $122.85 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 14 Mins: 20 Seconds: 1

    Cigarettes Not Smoked

Good morning G Day 15 seems to be a really hard day for a lot of us. I screamed at my husband and kicked the cat went to a friends house and cried all night. I am still smoke free and the days keep getting better all the time. What you are going through is hard if you are willing to hold on tight as rough as this ride seems right now it is so worth it. Thanks everyone. Today has certainly been better than yesterday. I don't understand why...Of course, yesterday was Monday and Monday has never been one of my favorite days! I can't think of anything that might have triggered a smoking crave. Of course, smoking has been part of my life for close to 30 years so that could have been anything...waking up in the morning..driving to work??? As far as dwelling on it...not sure if I was doing that or not. When it wouldn't go away I guess I sure started to. I'm using wellbutrin and the nicotine gum. I'm only using 3-4 gums/day. So, I'm not sure if this was a physical or mental thing. I don't know how much nicotine is left in my body after 15 days. I just know that it is draining and discouraging and I want it to go away. I'm trying to be optimistic but it sure isn't easy. It is nice to know that there are others out there going through this hell!

HELP! I am on day number 15. Yesterday was like one long cigarette craving. Thought I was going to scream. By the end of the day I was so exhausted that I went to bed at 8:00. This is the longest I've ever made it without cheating and I am trying really hard to break my habit of smoking, but after a day like yesterday it is difficult to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Please tell me this will not go on forever! Any and all advice is welcome. I've read that a craving lasts only a few minutes....that is soooooooooooooo not true!
