Public Pledges

19 years ago 0 126 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Has everyone here signed their pledge? I was about to fill it out when the word, "forever", stopped me dead in my tracks. That's serious! I have said I will stop smoking and I have for 5 days now and have set goals for myself (reach one week, then reach another week, reach a month, and so forth) but, "FOREVER"?! Is this stupid? What does it mean? That I'm not serious about quitting? That I will fall again? T.

I don't know if totally believe that I can make forever come true. I mean we can't predict the future ... but If I keeping saying it ... forever ... forever ... forever ... forever ... hopefully ... one day not so far away ... I will eventually ... truly believe it ... eventually I will overcome the fear of forever and believing is 1/2 the battle. Hi TXsT, Yes, FOREVER seems scary at first. What is really scary now is going back to smoking. Sometimes I dream about it, and wake up very thankful that it was only a dream. You are making your first steps into a new life as an ex drug addict Be proud Mr Ed :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 99 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,988 Amount Saved: 742.5 Life Gained: Days: 16 Hrs: 14 Mins: 27 Seconds: 23

I hear what your saying. It is still a shock to me that I have mede it 8 days, wow. Who woulda thunk it?? Not me! Forever is a long time but we both have to focus on the Now rather than forever. Make the pledge to take it day by day and before you know it, forever will be here. (That sounds funny but do you kwim?) Forever seems so "out there" and really all we can do is take this journey one hour, one day at a time. But wouldn't you like to promise yourself that you will quit forever?
