Blythe-
What has worked for me is reminding myself in vivid detail what is was like at the beginning; back when I was still kidding myself that "slips" did not mean starting all over. When I realized that I was sending myself back to square one each time I slipped, that is when the cravings stopped controlling me. Oh, I still get one now and again when the right trigger goes off. But I no longer have that overwhelming urge to act on it. I just don't wanna go back there. Just remember one thing: You do not smoke. Period. Say it to yourself and anyone who will listen, even if you don't believe it at first. You will. And so will everyone else.
Cold Turkeys don't smoke.
