Another newbie

I hope you all don't get bored of welcoming newbies. I have been a smoker for the better part of 15 years. The most recent failure to quit left me smoking about 12/day. An improvement over the 1.5 pack/day of a few years ago, but for some reason this time seems just as hard or harder. My wife smokes too and also quit and restarted several times. Usually one of us sucks the other back in. I am trying cold turkey as I have had mixed results with the patch and the gum. I'd really like to just have it out of my system all together. I am thinking of trying Zyban. Anyway, I am so glad to have found this site and this group. Whatever the reason, you're "doinit"! I think newbies are the most important people here. I need to be reminded of where I came from and I need to share my toolbox to help me remember what's in it :) Congrats on your new quit! Stick around and visit often. gpw My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/14/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 18 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 278 Amount Saved: $72 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 17 Mins: 7 Seconds: 14

Welcome Doinit! That name suits you. Your girls will be so proud of you. You will also feel so good about yourself. This site hopefully will make this your last quit. Hi Mehello. Sorry doinit..................didn't really come out right when I read it again! I have a daughter, son and wife as well....so pretty powerful incentive also. What I really was trying to say was do it for yourself so that you really can be around to see them grow up and support them.....anyway, congratulations on 4 days and hang on in there! Hi doinit4mygirls, how about doinit4myself! You will stop smoking when the desire to smoke outweighs the desire to light up. Welcome to the SSC, you will not find a more committed support group or a more critical one! Post often and share your feelings with us. Tell your wife that she is great! Is she a non-smoker? My hubby is a non smoker and he has just been wonderfull. He took me shopping last night so I wouldn't be tempted with my usual purchase. Good luck to you through this journey and I hope we see each other for many many "cigarettes not smoked" to come.
