Something similar here I keep spraying air freshner and no one else can smell what I feel as a weird odor. When I eat something, it tastes very different and at times I feel sick to my stomach. Maybe our senses are coming back as everyone says.

Ok over the last few days I've noticed a weird symptom I seem to have. I don't remember it ever happening on my other quits. Has anyone experienced phantom smells or tastes? What I mean is I'll be sitting around and all of a sudden smell something bad. There is nothing there and after a few minutes it goes away. Another thing is when I'm eating, or chewing gum it will taste fine, but then after a while sometimes it will get a nasty taste to it. Anyone else get something like this?
you could be right francesca51 but The taste I get from chewing gum (and different brands) isn't very nice, I can't believe it's something really in there. but who knows.
......OMG.....that be taste not naste..........guess Pat is due for a maintanence check...LOL. Cheers Pat

Sounds to me as though your taste buds and olfactory senses finally have an opportunity to function! I doubt that they are phantom.......I am sure that U were just never able to sense them before. What a wonderful machine this human body.......we can abuse it for a long time but, given the chance.........it can do it's own maintanence. I am sure that even my hearing has improved over these last 4 months.........no longer stuffin' my head full of smoke! This feels like a rebirth to me and I am throughly enjoying the journey...........even the " nasty tastes " are positive experiences as I see it, you are able to actually naste again! Cheers, Pat

hmm..not smells so much...but taste...I had to drop the amount of cofee grounds I used in half, because I can actually TASTE it now, the amount I was using just made it to bitter.
Hi, Harrow.
I've had some of those phantom smells and tastes. I really don't know what caused them. In the past, when I smoked, it was because of a sinus infection. A few weeks after I quit I went through a period of thinking I was getting one, all the symptoms except fever were there including nasty tastes & smells, but it never actually happened. I think it was just a change in mucus production because of quitting, and maybe a very low-grade infection that my body whipped on its own.
Mine passed in a couple of weeks.
