This is my commitment that I will end 18 years of wasted money, health, and time on a habit that has killed millions! I commit to ensure that I am around so that my 3 year old son will continue to have the "Best Dad in the World". And if I continue to smoke and consequently become ill at some eventual point, I will never forgive myself.

Congrads Sandman !! You sound like you are ready. I saw a quote.. on this website... "I made the decision to quit smoking when I was in a calm sane state of mind (I was still smoking) and now that I have quit and am in withdrawal.. I must remember that right now my thoughts are those of an addict in withdrawal.. remember the sane thoughts..) Also, get some hard candy .. a few kinds and sunflower seeds.. carry them around in a brown paper sack.. they are your fix.. Good luck and a great healthy and free future.. Hi, rayjo37. Listen, if the tobacco has you in its hands, then bite its fingers! :eg: HARD! Don't say nothing works. All that has happened in the past did not work at that time. It's got nothing to do with the future. NRTs (patches, gum, lozenges, etc), drugs (Zyban, Wellbutrin, etc.), hypnosis, cold laser, acupuncture, aroma therapy, and other quit methods all work differently with different people. Some folks just need to quit cold turkey, some need to taper off. What I'm getting at here is that everyone is different and what works for one doesn't necessarily work for another. The key is to keep trying until you find what works for you. As long as you keep trying there has been no failure. Failure only happens when you give up trying. You and sandman teaming up is a good idea. Maybe there will be others quitting on the 8th that will join you as well. You can do this, Ray. Go through this site's Online Quit Program, read posts, learn as much as you can. Tomorrow, stay close, keep us posted on how you're doing, and let us know how we can help.
