DAY - 2

Dreamer, Stay Strong, you can and will do this. When you feel a craving/urge to smoke make a list of coping mechanisms. This list can be anything you like to do ie. walking or taking a warm bath. When a craving sets in, think about what are you going to do or what you can do to not give in! Try writing down some coping techniques to particular scenarios. For example, the house is clean there is nothing to do and the cravings kicks in. You have already eaten and you are in a state of panic. Try leaving the house, go for a walk, call a friend, jump on the site, have a shower. Anything that takes your mind off of temptation is beneficial. Melanie ___________________ The SSC Suppor Team

Hi Dreamer I wish I was where you are - I am quitting in 5 hours and am beginning to feel nervous - I read somewhere else here that someone suggested not leaving your PC until you have 3 replies. Then, keep reminding yourself of WHY we all want to be rid of this awful addiction. thinking of you. L

Thanks everyone... I feel a bit worn out... but I'm still GOOD. Its crazy how one needs to fight to give up smoking... I never thought this would be soo damn hard... but this gives me a motivation.... I hope I get through the ned of the day. My girlfriend says every time we get an urge to smoke, lets make love... Well its working.... Maybe this could be the ultimate solution, distract our selves from what we really want.... - DREAMER ;p My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/18/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 1 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 11 Amount Saved: 5 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 4 Mins: 44 Seconds: 25

Hi DREAMER, I know how you feel. It is my sixth day. A few things helped me not to smoke the first few days...first, try to take slow deep breaths when the cravings hit you and second, chew straws or something like that. That may prevent you from overeating to satisfy the oral needs. Stay with it. Keep visiting this site, it truly is a godsend. Wish you much success DREAMER. :) Denisey

NOt sure where that came from (the three replies that is), with different time zones etc you could go a long time before someone responds.....but respond they will at some stage. Anyway.....one day at a time folks!
