Smokers skin..

18 years ago 0 17 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Hi all, just wondering how you all noticed your skin changing during your quit. I'm interested to know if anyone noticed a reduction in the 'smoking lines' around the mouth due to less pursing of the lips? The texture of mine and the color seem to be a bit better so far.. here's hoping on the smoking lines! I am 24 and the wrinkles that I would have acquired from smoking is one of the reasons I quit. You can tell a 50yr old smoker from a 50 year old non smoker! No as far as skin changes now....havent been told or havent noticed my skin looking better. I think all the extra weight is hiding my lines!! LOL!! The Chicken

I'm 26. I'm on day 13 I think. My girlfriend during my previous quits has told me that the wrinkles on my neck and face have decreased. I don't sleep as well during my quit, but when I do get a good night's sleep I think the skin around my eyes looks better. It's definately a benefit. I can tell my teeth are getting whiter as well. I may not have been quit for a long time, but I've been trying for 4 months now, so I think the time without cigarettes and the reduced intake has had an effect on my teeth as well.

Most definitely - everyone said my skin looked better, I had more colour and they even said I looked younger (yeah!!!), and this was evident in the first few days! *You made me forget what I was coming in here to tell olly* Hi olly :) The average smoker has ten times more wrinkles compared to non-smokers. A smoker's skin is wrinkled, pale and grayish because smoking causes the microscopic muscle fibers in the walls of the blood vessels to contract causing smokers to have pale skin. A single cigarette can reduce the blood supply to the skin for more than an hour. As groovygirl has shown us...giving up smoking improves the blood supply to the skin and give previously pale skin a more 'natural' appearance~lol My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/20/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 200 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,416 Amount Saved: $1000 Life Gained: Days: 19 Hrs: 1 Mins: 10 Seconds: 39

Hi Folks -- my skin def improved when I quit smoking...When I was a smoker in my 'other' life, I would get really miffed when people said they could tell I was a smoker because of my skin (which was all of the above) However, I maintain that my wrinkles I inherited from my mom....she never smoked a day in her life and I got her skin. My wrinkles used to bother me but now I remind myself that along with my wrinkles I inherited my mom's zest for life and her positive attitude and I would not give up any of my wrinkles if it meant losing the other.....so, I am telling you all this little story because some of us do have wrinkles for reasons other than smoking.... cheers... Mine has tightened up and most of the bags/puffiness around the eyes is gone.
