The dreaded night out at the pub

Good for you ex roller. Good for keeping the quit. Good for you for having your guard up. Congratulations on taking back you life. Good for you for getting out and doing the things that you know and love and are also good for you. Going out and being social and having an evening out can be great. I also know how hard it is to be around old ways. Good for you! Well done Roller, I have avoided the pub so far but will have to face it at some point. When you have really cracked it you will have to get some Tetleys down ya instead of that London Pride ;) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/6/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 30 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 362 Amount Saved: 75 Life Gained: Days: 5 Hrs: 12 Mins: 2 Seconds: 55

Good for you Ex Roller! I haven't been able to avoid smokers since I quit but I have been avoiding situations mostly because I don't want to go and it is great to be able to use my quit as a reason not to. You are right - tonight I had my guard fully up and I was fine, but I won't be going out again for a while and intend to be very careful about this as I work through my quit. I was just so pleased because although I'm now 2 months quit, there are still some milestones I need to get over, and the pub was a big one for me. Well, tonight was the one I was dreading most: going out to the pub for the first time and not smoking - up till now I have virtually hibernated and avoided all social situations incase I got tempted. Well I did it, and passed!! I enjoyed 2 pints of London Pride and even commented on how nice the beer was without the smokes (I was really tasting it properly for the first time!) Well I am really chuffed, because I was really scared I would weaken, but I didn't - I never even felt tempted - hooray!! WTG Roller. You passed a big challenge. I have to agree with Katy that you need to keep your guard up for a long time to come, but life cannot be avoided forever. I am lucky here in California. You can't smoke in any public places anymore except for cigar clubs. Problem is all the smokers hover at the door. Good news about that is second hand smoke really reaks and makes me personally nautious. I am neglecting the images as I saw a post a couple days ago from Josie I tink asking us to limit picture posting. Probably cause they got a glimpse of me on that Harley ;) Just Say N.O.P.E. Oh StuBow, "laughing," It couldn't have been you! You looked too cute. I too have been trying to limit my smileys. So hard though, love those happy faces, they make me smile!! Hey Ex Roller, That's a great step forward for you. Like you said, I have been avoiding a lot of social situations too. I haven't had a drink since New Years', and a I'm still a little nervous to go to a bar anytime soon. But I was finally around a cig. the other day for the first time and to my delight was thoroughly grossed out!! YEAH!!! Little baby steps hey Ex Roller. redrosie This is me and my "baby" quit. lol My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 65 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,581 Amount Saved: $539.5 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 10 Mins: 1 Seconds: 3
