From what I have read from a lot of people on this board is that they felt the same way you are feeling around the same time in their quit as well. Isn't it great to not be alone in your quit; to know that what you are feeling is 'normal'? Hang in there, you'll be feeling better in no time. Remind yourself that this too shall pass. Grab yourself some determination quotes and get those thoughts going in a different direction. Don't give your quit up for anything. You are doing great. Be strong, stay with this Fantastic quit. I think as everyone moves along their quit that some blues and emptiness may occur. I know I have days that are not so fabulous, but I truly feel I had more of those days when I did smoke - because I did not the Christine that smoked. I was a non smoker trying to get out of a smoking body. My worse day as a non-smoker won't come close to how crummy I felt when I smoked. Protect that quit you have worked so hard for. Congratulations on your success. We are all very proud of your courage to come and tell us what's on your mind and for your honesty. I hope the sunshine comes through your window soon. Hi, I was hoping by now I would not have any more desires to smoke. Some days I just want to throw in the towel. I now have even been off the patch for like 10 days so I know the nicotine is out of my body. When do these desires and feelings of loss and blue go away. I know quitting is the best thing I could have done for me and my family and I feel so guilty for feeling this way. I was hoping for some advice for people who have quit for a longer lenghth of time and knows when these feelings will pass. I know I should be ashamed for these feelings because It is self pity. Today is day 85 without a cigarette and ten without a patch. Thanks for listening to me moan. Morning Glory - Don't give up - I certainly felt so blah, tired and frustrated on my 80-85th day. Yuck! I think it is part of this long strange trip we're on. My experience. I felt like you around the 80 day mark, depressed, blue and just plain blagh, why bother, why go on. I came here and posted and posted and read and passed the time. I did everything I could to stay away from smoking and I kept myself very firmly inline because I did not want to go through all of the beginning stuff. Guess what. It got better. Given some time, some patience, some perceverance, the blaghness went away and I feel better. Stay Strong, use all of your skills and your outlook will change. Welcome to the no smoking journey and your new life as a person who does not smoke. Trust me and so many others here, it really does shift and get much better. Hey listen up, do not feel ashamed at all - you are just going through exactly what I (and no doubt loads of others) went through. I came off the patches at day 78 and boy did I suffer.I had a whole 7 days when I thought about whether I would make it, but here I am feeling fine and not suffering (much!) at all. I just reminded my self of why I was quitting and what it was like on week 1, I would often read the posts of those early in their quits to see the agony they were going through. Although I felt bad it was no way as bad as those folk were feeling, I was not going to go back there and so stuck it out. You do the same, you feelings should end soon and you will be so glad that you stuck with it, keep strong! I know this feeling sooo well. I was so worried at this point in my quit. For me, it was as if the depression and longing subsided all at once. It was around my 90th day so have hope.. you are almost there. It was a tough, tough time in the 70's and 80's for me. I kept wondering if I would ever feel happy again and if i would ever stop being such a bit@h.. I really was awful. Like I said, it subsided all at once. The cruise ship helped and making it to the beach really helped. Those milestones really worked for me since the time on the cruise ship really was a time of waiting to make it though to the other side.. making it to the beach. My best advise is to have faith, I had to have it or I would not have made it. If your quit is anything like mine, you are almost there! Dear Morningglory, I wish I had done a post like yours when I was on Day 78 and did throw in the towel. It might have saved me from having to start all over again for the umpth time. Don't feel guilty for feeling this way, and don't go thru the guilt I had when I had to reset my meter! But enough kicking myself and you should stop too, just focus on the positive and remember that all else passes My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/7/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 17 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 264 Amount Saved: $72.25 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 20 Mins: 52 Seconds: 31
