alexa, Do not allow yourself to get into any situation you find uncomfortable. Steer clear of those who smoke. When you feel overwhelmed or a craving coming on, take yourself out of the situation. Stay Strong, Melanie _____________________ The SSC Support Team

Hey alexa, Thats a choice you have to make yourself. My first quit years ago I tried to rationalize my quit by smoking cigars as well. Then I replaced the cigars with ciggs and stayed smoking till now. Please remember why you quit smoking alexa. My advice is to stay home this weekend... if you can't, tough it out!! Good luck, Ron

I know that cravings are coming out of the blue. I got hit many times, it's just I was absolutely sure that I won't be able to resist a smoke after drink and I was wrong, thank GOD. What puzzled me the most is that it's not like I was fighting cravings, I JUST DID NOT HAVE ANY. Very strange. Everybody said that I will be tempted, but I was not. Well, I guess there is always a next time (LOL). Thanks for your replies. Unfortunately I can't cancel because we are going out with our friends that we did not see for 20 years and they are in NY only for 2 days. When I mentioned cigars I was not talking about starting smoking cigars. I was talking only after drinks smoking. I even don't know if I will like cigars. I don't want to start smoking. I am OK now without it, but I know that tonight I will have very hard time and there is nothing I can do to avoid this situation. Hi Tonight I am going out and I will be drinking. Can somebody give me tips how to cope with cravings after drinks. I know I will have them, I mean cravings. Friend of mine told me that in the beginning of her quit she use to smoke cigar after drinks. She told me that there are cigars for women that don't smell like regular cigars. Now she in her 2nd year of quit and doesn't smoke anything after having drinks. But in the beginning smoking cigars helped her in these situations. What do you guys think? Is this acceptable? Will it help? Or it is the same as smoking a cigarette. Please give me your input. Thanks a lot. Alexa. We are going to restaurant which is am sure is non-smoking. But it is the place where drinks are served. And I always had a drink with my dinner. I guess I will have to settle for non-alcoholic beverage. Thank you everybody for your help. Hooray. Getting through a big test. Getting through something that worried you. You did it! Groovekitty is a very wise cat. Those craves can come from who knows where and we always need to be prepared. Thanks Alexa for posting and being part of this little family. Congratulations. Job well done. Hi Alexa since you asked, drinking is really hard this early in your quit. I had one too many glasses of wine at about 14 days and turned into an emotional wreck I did not smoke but I really wanted to. I have never heard of lady cigars and you will find that a lot of us here will advise you against them. Why? Smoking is Smoking Period. Have a good time with your friends but I suggest drinking soda or water. Alexa.........congrats on passing your first test. That was a big one......you should be rewarding yourself at each "milestone" and I think this one fits that bill! As a word of caution.......passing the test once doesn't mean you won't ever crave a smoke when you drink. These cravings slam you out of nowhere, at any time, any place. So I guess I'm saying you still need to mentally prepare yourself the next time you go out, and the next, and the next. But now you have this under your belt, and all successess are a good defence against "junkie thinking" again......congrats!
