Seductive Smell

I have not had to deal with the smell of smoke yet as I have been avoiding it. I am hoping that when I do encounter it finally that is stinks like all you-know-what. Cigarettes Not Smoked

Wow! It's soooo funny that you posted this. I went out with a friend tonight and was at the local sports bar. Walking in we walked past all the outdoor tables with the smokers. Man that smell hit me like a ton of bricks too. I even made the comment "I can't decide if that smells good or bad right now." Heh. It was very, very tempting. But I kept going and the sensation passed pretty quickly. Of course, then we had to walk back out again. Heh. Still, I made it through. It just cracks me up that you had basically the same thing happen last night. We really are all going through this together I guess, eh? Dear joonie Good job on resisting the demon. There has been alot of talk about the smell of smoke and how it effects us quitters. One of our treasured leaders here at SSC huffed 2nd hand smoke and almost turned her meter back because she enjoyed the huff...therefore she thought she should turn the meter back. We told her NOT!!! She did NOT smoke. Any minute now, when you smell smoke or someone who has smoked, you will say EEEWWWW. And you will think, sheeshh did I smell that bad? You may not get over the good smoke smell......but you will be able to resist the temptation Demon. Stay Strong and Stay Quit. Seductive? For me the smell is very acrid and pretty awful. I have in the past couple of days been close. On a patio the person next to me lit up and I was wheezing in moments I had to move. Last night very nice dinner out with friends and a walk through the club district after and so many smoking in the street. Sitting on the street car and people walk by after having just smoked and I have had to get up and move. Weird. I can simply not be this radical and judgemental ex smoker that puts every smoker into their little box. I know that for me it is a real turn off and I will leave rather than put up with what I experience as an awful stench. And Joonie you did good. I don't know if I could toy with a pack empty or not. TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much temptation. I am so looking forward to not liking the smell of cigarette smoke all the time! I don't always find that it smells good but I do in certain social situations. Thanks for all the replys and support. I think, make that know, that we can all do this if we stay focused. FOCUS, FOCUS, FOCUS......... After the smoke exposure from last night, I woke up this morning and had had the SMOKING dream. Boy, am I predictable or what. I watched those folks smoking last night and it obviously made quite the impression on me. And then today at a neighborhood yard sale, same thing, several people were smoking which brought back some craves. But I think there is a pattern that I have noticed about these craves. If I haven't regularly been taking vitamins, the cravings seem much worse. So, I need to try to remember to take them and make it easier on myself. And hey Bingo, I can't wait for us to hit the one year mark together and the cravings, what cravings! stage. :) Joonie My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/22/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 28 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 573 Amount Saved: $98 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 3 Mins: 7 Seconds: 15

Not going to smoke but Wow what a struggle tonight. I was at our neighborhood TGIF that is held once a month and could smell the smoke from the smokers on the outside deck. For some reason hit me like a ton of bricks tonight. THEN there was a little basket beside the door with a couple of packs of cigs and a lighter! Gosh. I picked up a pack and luckily it was empty. I did not pick up the remaining pack. Boy, do I feel like a junky! Just thought I would share the my feelings. Thanks! It can be very difficult at times to keep your quit. Having Junkie thoughts is something that is going to happen. I had a few today myself. What you do with those thoughts is what decides how your quit goes. If you can stop yourself long enough to recognize the Junkie though and regain control of your head, then you will win in your quit. It sounds like you did just that. Good job - keep it up.
