Well done Kizzer, you are right there are quite a few of us long term smokers who never thought that we could get as far as we have. So newbies take heart that if you really want to kick this habit then, with a bit of determination, you can succeed. Thanks Kizzer! Kizzer, You have written some strong words. It's difficult to conjure up a mind-view of what that many not smoked cigarettes look like. So, congratulations anyway. You should be very, very proud! Thank you for being so inspirational. I am really sorry that my participation here has declined so much, but rest assured that had this site not been here, I would still be a smoker. I sit here tonight, just one day shy of not smoking for SIX months. I am amazed to say the least. I was a very heavy smoker - 3+ packs a day for 30+ years. That I am even alive after smoking that much is amazing! This is post is not to brag, nor do I need my ego stroked. The whole purpose of this post is for those who think they CAN'T quit. To those who think they can't quit, all I can say is I know where you are coming from. I was one of you! I was addicted, now I am not. I was afraid to quit. But now I am proud that I did. I was weak. But now I feel stronger than ever. I was scared, but now I feel bold. There was no way that I would ever quit smoking, but a funny thing happened on the way to my death - It is called LIVING. You see, I didn't quit for myself, I quit for my family. I decided that my family was more important than I was. Being selfish was never my nature, in fact I took pride in how unselfish I had been in my life. Yet it took awhile to realize that my smoking was one of the most selfish things I could do to my family. I lost sight of what this life is really about.... FAMILY! So if you are sitting on the fence, afraid to quit. Or if you have doubts about quitting, look no further than your family. If you can't quit for them........... Well, you decide what kind of person you are. It can be done. I didn't think so either, but I am living proof that heavy smokers can quit. Trust me, after the first week of the worst hell you may ever have, you will begin to stand tall and the burden will ease. Not smoking is one of the best things to ever happen to me. My whole life has changed. I am no longer a slave to my addiction. I can go anywhere now and not have to duck outside to have a cigarette. I can sit through a whole movie. I smell wonderful.....Yet more than anyhting. my family is super proud of me. Make your family proud ----- QUIT!
