EWWWWWW That Smell....

18 years ago 0 3 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Hi ChickenStix-- The last time I quit smoking for 3 mos, I had a "reformed" smoker come up to me and say "Well, you smell better!" I thought it was the rudest thing I had ever heard. I think in the beginning our sense of smell becomes very keen, mine has, and I am hoping this lessens. When I was a child, everyone smoked and I hugged them all--in all my childhood scent-memories, smoke is not one of them. I never realized how bad I smelled. Now when people who smoke walk past me, whether at work or on the streets, I think the smell is just horrible and nasty. Thank goodness I quit!! Bottem line is they smell. No butts about it...they smell! BTW I don't know if anyone else thinks of Lynard Skynard's That Smell song when you read this post but I do and sing it continuously. The most hilarious part is that to finish that line I believe he says The smell of death surrounds you.....Dagnabit that song is soooooooo right!!! They stink and they smell of deadly chemicals!!! :) DO NOT LET THE SMELL OF DEATH SURROUND YOU!!!!! MADAM KNIGHT STIX SIGNING OUT!!!! Remember: No Smoke, No Choke, No Croak!!! OMG!!! I was totally in Rite Aide the other day and the older lady in line in front of me stunk so bad...I literally laughed out loud 4 real. I knew she smoked and I was so excited that I smelled her stench...okay well not that excited coz she stunk but excited nonetheless. I was with my sister-in-law and ran out to the car lmao telling her about the stench....she then proceeded to tell me that I had that stench....I knew I did but it was officially confirmed...I too stunk. But not no more I smell like a big ole Chicken!!! Thank God for nostrils...if only we could chose what they smelled!! LOL. Madam Knight Stix....the smell good chicken. I would just like to know why I never noticed how my husband smelled like a stanky, stale ashtray. Not only my husband, but my mother, my sisters, my brother, my father, and quite a few of my friends. I know that they can't smell themselves and I smelled like that too. I try not to comment because I know that its only been 9 days that I have not smelled like that but man!! Would it be wrong to draw this to there attention? Should I go find everyone that had to smell my stale smoked behind and apologize for subjecting them to that poisonous stench? I understand that 2nd hand smoke is very bad for you, but I have also been told that the chemicals stays on a person after they put the cigarette out (thus giving them "that smell") and breathing them can be harmful to you as well. Is that so? In all the time that I smoked.. I never had anyone mention that they could smell the smoke on me. People would sometimes even be suprised to find out that I smoked after knowing me for a while. Until... I met my son's doctor. He immediately asked us who smoked. I told him that I did and he said in his German accent.. "Do you know how I knew ? I could smell it.." Threw me aback. I think since then I have become more aware of my smell and have worked at masking the smell. He may have done it for a psychological reason to make me feel bad because I smoke.. My son was in the ER for respiratory distress from a virus that was just trashing his lungs.. Maybe he asked everyone... don't know really. I'm soooooooo glad that I don't smell bad anymore... :) Hang Tuff ! Funny smelling thread we have here! I am so on the boat with you all. I have also gotten the super power of x-ray nose. I am able to smell all things good and bad. The worst is when smokers come in from the cold where I work. I swear the coldness makes the smoke smell just cling to them like crazy. Sometimes I find myself backing away from them as they talk because they reek so bad. I feel so bad for my family, all the years of hugs and kisses I gave them that came with a stinky cloud. I am also finding my hearing seems more accute. It's like the volume is turned up in my head. Anyone else experiencing this? redrosie This rose by any other name smells as sweet!!! I posted once before on how unreal it is to me how bad smokers smell. I agree that as ex smokers we notice it even more. Here at work we have two smokers and when they walk by me or come in my office it is almost overwhelming. I CANNOT believe I ever smelled that way but my "good" friends now tell me I did . I really gag when I get on an elevator with a smoker. YUCK !!! how did we ever stand ourselves?
