Hey everyone, I made it through DAY-1 (yesterday) thanks to two pots of coffee! Man the day seems to go slow.. yesterday felt like weeks! Is that normal.. I hope everyday doesn't drag on so slow without smoking. Maybe it's becasue with smoking, I kept having small "reward" times to break up the day.. who knows. All I know is today is day-2 and I feel great so far! THIS SITE ROCKS!

Hey Matt !! Good for you.. Remember to look at these first few days for what they are REHAB.. withdrawal.. saying NO to an addiction !!! Do you have any muchies besides coffee to help with the cravings.. they really do help. Fruit and raw vegetable help too. Drink Drink Drink water, cranberry juice, tea.. (not so much coffee.. lol) Pamper yourself .. have a great lunch ! Don't sit around thinking about smoking.. stay busy. and when you get a craving.. grab a lemonhead or some redhots and wait for it to pass (3 minutes maximum !!) You're doing great !! Don't forget to VOTE on a name for OUR club.. look for the post !! Hang Tuff ! Congrats Matt! I think the days seem to pass more slowly at first because you are in withdrawal and discomfort always seems to take forever to pass and also because you aren't breaking your day up in to the hour(+/-) intervals in between smokes. I bet you could find a way to occupy you mind and hands on a similar interval. Might help the time pass. As for the discomfort, it does get easier, I promise. I am now on day 17 and have only had one 30 second craving as of writing this reply. Stay strong, you can do it! Hi Matt, I'm glad to see you made it through your first day. Good for you. It's true you will have lots of extra time on your hands. I never realized just how much time I spent buying cigs, smoking, planning when or where I could smoke, etc. Just make sure you keep yourself busy. The ol Nicodemon likes to creep in when you start thinking too much about cigs. I'm glad you feel so great already, it only gets better!! Congratulations Matt. Getting through day one was such a huge milestone for me. It was like proving to myself I could really do it. Now you know you can do it too. Just keep doing what you did yesterday again and again. Time doesn't drag on forever.... I now wonder how I ever had time to smoke! The freedom is awesome. Keep going and let me know what you think. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/1/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 229 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,588 Amount Saved: $801.5 Life Gained: Days: 20 Hrs: 5 Mins: 11 Seconds: 14

Matt, Congratulations on your decision to quit and welcome to the SSC. Yes, time can drag when you first quit. If you add up all the time you used to waste on smoking, you will see it was quite a lot of time. Now eliminate the smoking and you suddenly can have a lot of time on your hands. This would be an ideal time to look at a new hobby or interest. Exercise would also be good. And don't forget that you can sit here on the SSC with the rest of us SSC addicts.. ;) Keep on keepin on!
