I forgot to add to the above a couple questions... 1. Why am I out of breath more now than when I did smoke? 2. When should breathing become easier? Thanks a bunch!

Hi everyone! I went on to this website over a week ago and checked things out....very helpful! I have to admit though ~ quitting smoking has been ALOT easier than I suspected. I started out using the patch last Tuesday, stopped using it 2 days ago (side effects). One thing that I notice no matter where I am or what I am doing I notice people smoking. I guess I never paid attention to all the people who smoked before. Weird... I think the biggest help tool is that when a craving kicks in (which honestly there hasn't been more than 1 or 2 a day) I take a deep breath and repeat... it will go away in a second, and it does. Has anyone else had this easy of a time quitting? I am curious if this is the real thing or are those darn things playing tricks with me. Golferman~ Thank you for the support! I have to admit, with everything else I am dealing with in my life the easiest thing has been quitting smoking. I too hope it continues to stay this simple. BTW.... #24 YES (not #20 he got lucky) Shannon My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/17/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 9 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 141 Amount Saved: $37.8 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 16 Mins: 45 Seconds: 41

Gordon24Fan, Congratulations on your decision to quit and welcome to the SSC. Quitting is a very individual process and you just might be one of the lucky ones who does it quite easily. For most of us mortals, we have a few fights with the old nicodemon. Enjoy your quit and all the good days. I hope it never gets bad or difficult for you, but if it does, come on here and read and post! hey.. one last thing.... #20.. YES!!!! :p Be Strong. Be Smart. I must admit I have not had a lot of difficulty quitting...until recently. There is going to be some rough spots...be prepared - use the tools provided. I think your ease may be because of your determination and commitment. Keep it up. You're doing great. Don't let your guard down though. It takes a year to be comfortable. Congratulations Gordon on 8 awesome smoke free days. I could tell a big difference in my breathing by the end of the 2nd week..... I am not for sure about your being out of breath more now than before you quit.....Maybe someone else has the answer to that....I do know that everyones withdrawel, symtoms vary and this might just be your body and lungs starting to heal.......If it keeps up, go see your doctor, it might be something you need to discuss with him. Keep up the good work....This will be one of the hardest things you have done in your life but the most rewarding....
