Knights of the empty ashtray - February Quit Group

18 years ago 0 962 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Hi Knight Christine - Thanks for the encouragement! And here is the answers to your questions. For the last 15 years or so I have only smoked about 4 cigs a day - I didn't have one until after work and would go out on my porch and smoke until I went to bed (I am a totally early to bed girl)! On the weekends I would probably have 7 or 8. I wasn't a heavy smoker but still an addicted one and couldn't find the willpower to quit it totally. When my doc said I had to be smoke free by the time I saw her again I knew it was time to quit but needed help. (my dad never smoked but has diabetes and has been diagnosed with "something malignant" in his lungs. He is in too poor of health to go in and find out what exactly it is) So there is family history of bad health - my grandfather had tuberculocis (sp?) and my grandmother died of lukemia) So to make a long story short - didn't want to end up like my dad. My husband smokes about a pack a day - so it was our thing to be able to go out - sit on the porch and talk about our day - and smoke! So... that's my story. I did reward myself a little - got a massage! I am feeling better and definitely cleaner. Our office manager smokes outside of work and I am noticing that her office smells like it. I never noticed that before! Thank God I don't smell like that anymore. And my step-sons have told me over and over again how proud they are of me. That is a reward in itself! Thanks for being there and so encouraging me along. Sorry this was so long - but you asked! Hi ya'll - Sorry that I have been off the radar - computer was on the fritz! I made it through my first weekend - I have to confess it was hell. I got alot of excercise tho - since I walk out the front door and around the neighborhood when the craving strikes! I am getting lots of support from my close friends - but have not gone out with my buds that smoke the NICDRAGON! I think that I will avoid that for a least another couple of months! My husband still is smoking but is going to the doctor tomorrow to see if she will give him some Wellbutrin. We'll see how that all works out. I know that it has to be His Quit - but he is smoking outside in the backyard - and that I can't make him quit. Too bad he is totally computer spazy or he could come on and join the Knights. But professes to be able to quit his pack a day habit - no problem. He's done it a million times!! HAHA It has been easier not to smoke when I know that ya'll are here to support me and somehow you care! Island Girl - My hardest time is when I get home from work too. I start to feel sad and lonely as if I am missing something in my life. I sorda feel like I dont know what to do with myself. I am so glad to have found this site though. It definitely takes my mind off of smoking. Again, congratulations on quitting

Last night was one of the first nights I have slept the entire time. The only time I woke up was when my alarm went off. I was shocked, happy and proud. The last two weeks I have woken up what felt like a hundred times. I would be so tired at work. It is day 16 for meyeah and yeah for everyone here!! Everyone here has inspired me and I dont feel alone on my journey. Islandgirl Congratulations on your decision to quit. You can do it!!
