I'm so sorry for your friend, his family and you. This is one of those situations in life that just can't be understood. This journey we are all on as we live our lives can be so unexplainable and unfair at times. You are both in my thoughts. Kizzer, I am glad you are there for your friend, he needs alot of love and support right now. So many people feel useless in tragic circumstances and drift away from the people who need them the most. You are a true friend. I hope your friend can come to terms with his illness. I'm sure he will be going through many stages of emotions. My Mom died of cancer 5 years ago and was given 3 months to live, but we had her for 9 months. It really can be a beautiful chance to do and say all the things we want to but never do.I hope your friend finds peace with this news soon. I know it has been awhile since I've posted. Been very busy getting ready for our first grandbaby! Just to update those who cared, my friend is now home and the long-term outlook looks promising. He still has a battle to fight, but has pretty much won the war. If anything good comes from this, it is the fact that he, along with all those who know and love him value life so much more now. My only hope is this experience is read by someone here wondering if quitting smoking is worth the hassle. If you value life, then it IS worth the issues that come with quitting. Isn't a few weeks of hell much better than an early death? Think of it in these terms, would you stand in front of a fast bus, knowing that death is speeding right at you? Probably not right? So why stand in front of a fog of smoke knowing that a creeping death is coming at you? I quit. I was an extremely heavy smoker (Look at my stats). If I can quit, you can quit! Trust me, it is not as hard as you think it will be. Set your mind to it and you will be amazed at what YOU can do. Best of luck, Kizzer My Milage: My Quit Date: 11/17/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 173 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 12,136 Amount Saved: $1271.55 Life Gained: Days: 28 Hrs: 11 Mins: 37 Seconds: 41

Just an update...... My friend is doing well. He was transferred to a cancer center, and they feel pretty confident that the cancer was caught before it got away from them. He will have chemo and radation, but there is hope here when there once seemed to be none. He will know more as the weeks pass. Myself, the xrays came back good! There was some patches, but they said it wasn't anything to worry about. They said 75% of people have some kind of lung spotting. Hope everyone is staying quit!
