Hello Luci-Lou, I am so sorry for your troubles that you are going through. My heart goes out to you. You know what I am going say, right? Okay, here it is: Smoking won't change anything. You will still feel your same emotions after you finish that cig. But, you will have one more on your shoulder. And that is guilt. Guilt for blowing your quit. Getting through very rough waters is sure a test. A hard one at that. You have to overcome your obstacles any way you can. Just do it without smoking. Smoking won't change the outcome. Take some deep breaths, and really think. Think. Think. Think. You really don't want to smoke, you just don't know how to deal without smoking. This is for you to decide how to. Re-read your coping skills, and drill it into head that YOU WILL NOT SMOKE. Play head games with yourself. Talk yourself into it. Your God-daughter will only benefit if you do not smoke!!!!!!! Let her be your inspiration! Good luck, and we are here for you. Post again, and again, and again if you need to! Oh, Luci-Lou, I'm so sorry life has decided to give you a double dose of troubles. The stress and worry you must be going through. There is nothing I can really say about smoking that you don't already know, but please come here instead of smoking when you are feeling too overwhelmed. The fear of not knowing what the future holds for you, your god-daughter and all of us can be so overwhelming at times. Try to recall another hardship in your life. Did it turn out as bad as you thought it would? Did you get through it o.k.? Sometimes what we imagine is so much worse than the reality. That is my hope for you. Good thoughts from me to you, redrosie My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 89 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,150 Amount Saved: $738.7 Life Gained: Days: 8 Hrs: 17 Mins: 27 Seconds: 42

Luci-Lou, As everyone else, my heart breaks for you. And ... as everyone else has so wonderfully put it, you CAN get through today without smoking and that's all you have to do. Today. I love all the messages about remembering to breathe. Take good care of your quit. Luci-Lou.. Breathe in :gasp: Breathe out :8o: Breathe in :gasp: Breathe out :8o: Breathe in :gasp: Breathe out :8o: You KNOW for a fact that SMOKING solves nothing. It will not reduce your stress, it will not make your Godchild better, and it will not make any cancer go away. Something else you KNOW as well is that smoking will cause cancer, will cause stress, and will kill you. Put it in simple factual terms and keep it real. You want to smoke because you are an addict. We would all probably still smoke if all the negative side affects didn't exist. Especially that one - you know what I'm talking about - DEATH. Let go of all that junkie thinking and get it together. Life is full of stressors and they aren't going anywhere. When your desire not to smoke outweights your desire to smoke, you will succeed. I have so much going on I dont know if I can deal with it. . . I recently had some abnormal cells removed from my cervix (quite unpleasant), and on Wednesday I got a call at work from the doctors office telling me I had to come in that day, it was important. Turns out there was a small amount of cancer among the tissue they removed. She THINKS they got it all, but I have to go for another biopsy on May 4, just in case. Im 26 years old. Then, yesterday, my 9-year-old God-daughter fell at school and hurt her hip. Turns out she actually broke it, and the x-ray shows a mass in her bones. The doctors have to put a plate in, and biopsy the mass to check for cancer. That could be why her hip broke so easily. Youd think that I would want to quit smoking even more now, right? Wrong. Its all I can think about. Im stressed to the max and an emotional wreck, and I am gong to visit my friend and her daughter (my God-daughter) at lunchtime today, and I KNOW my friend is going through a personal hell and chain-smoking like mad, and I KNOW I will want to join her. I cant handle this stress. Smoking probably contributed to the cancer they found and removed from me, but I still want it. Why? Why do I feel it will be better if I have just one? Im being stupid, but honest. Not sure how I am going to handle all this.

Luci, I am so sorry for what you are going through, but you do know smoking wont help it, in fact it will make it worse. You will feel so guilty for smoking and then you will have to go through all the withdrawal again. Smoking will NOT make this easier to handle! My prayers for you and your goddaughter. I think it's good you're not sure how you're going to handle it all. That means you're planning ahead. You're trying to get some method of coping in place. I'm willing to bet that when push comes to shove you make it through with flying colors. I didn't say it would be easy, but you're going to be fine and you're going to make it. Right? C'mon - you know you can do it.....
