I really like the "clean healing air" part...Even before I quit smoking I did a lot of breathing stuff to help combat nervousness/anxiety. Visualizing breathing clean/healing air, while doing a relaxation breathing technique could be a really great excercise to help fight off nervousnes related to not smoking. Some people think all those tricks are silly, but they really help me a lot! THANKS!

hey Rosie, Here's a bit of trivia for you. Actually, Sharksandwich was the name of a fictional Spinal Tap record. Yes...the postive thing is working. Don't dwell on negative stuff like how long you smoked, why you chose to...just think about how great life is without smoking. I mean...we were all born as non-smokers...so we're just returning back to our natural smoke-less state. I got some really good advice from an addiction counselor a while back. I told her how stupid I was, and what a loser I was for continuing to smoke. She immediately said "you can't quit with negative thoughts like that...you must make this a positive experience". "You have to focus on how wonderful you are that you've chosen a smoke free life...and think of all the rewards of breathing clean, healing air". I always try to remember that...I'm keeping positive thoughts and focusing on all the good that will come my way as a smoke-free person. I just thought I'd share that. I agree with Redrosie, your pride and self esteem will grow along with your quit. You are 100% on target that you need a positive attitude to quit. I personally tried not to think so much about smoking at all (good and bad) It helped me move on. I like your positive attitude SharkSandwich, with that...you will succeed! You are so right, this is what has got me this far. There is only one 'negative' about not smoking and that is the craves but there are at least 100 positives, they far outweigh the negatives. Think about them all the time, when the going gets tough remember all the positives and try and think of any negatives. Great advice. Hi SharkSandwich, (first time I ever used those 2 words in the same sentence) :), I POSITIVELY agree!! There are many, many great things about to come your way with this quit. Try to focus on them and your pride and self-esteem will grow along with your quit.
