Done Lost my Mind

Leigh, Yep! It posted correctly. Your story touched me as well. I'm a stay-at-home mom and homeschool three of my four children. Valentine's Day and my wedding anniversary are next week and that really has me in the dumps. My husband smokes and of course we've always been smoking buddies. He booked a weekend getaway for this weekend to celebrate and I told him I couldn't go because I didn't have a lot of confidence in my ability to stay smoke-free. He was angry and disappointed. I can really understand his point of view, but I had to do that to protect my quit. That was the right thing for me to do. I'm still sad, though. Then I found out this morning that he's leaving for Nashville next week and won't even be here for our anniversary. He'll be hanging with the pretty & talented in Nashville while I'm here breaking up the fights between the kids, cleaning up the dinner dishes, wiping muddy dog footprints off the floor, running the taxi service, withdrawaling from drug addiction...well...you know what it's like. I'm just so mad and so sad at the same time - and lonely. Yesterday was good, but today I just want to cry again. That must mean that tomorrow will be good! I'd love to go to bed and stay there until it's tomorrow. But that's not an option. Instead I'll drink LOTS of water, dance wildly and go do some yardwork. Listen to the people at this site. They sure have me convinced that things will get better. They are telling me about the light at the end of the tunnel - they've been there to see it. gpw My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/14/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 26 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 399 Amount Saved: $104 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 11 Mins: 9 Seconds: 7

Cool! My DH started chewing "magic" gum last night. He smells so good today and his pretty warm blue eyes are brighter. He's doing well. Lots of yawning and throat clearing. Hopefully he'll desire to join the board here and reap the benefits. He must have made the decision when I told him how much better sex is as a non-smoker!!! I know what makes him tick... Kiwi, I love him far too much to dish out to him what his addiction gave to me. It's just an "evil and satisfying thought" but not suitable for reality. I'm too much of a wus to actually do something like that. I love being smoke-free and have had two good days in a row! Thanks for being here all who see this! Blue Ribbon for you GPW. Hang in there and dump whatever you gotta dump here. This is the right place. I was reading in some post about the Soap Opera that is the SSC. It is true and we are all here to help one another as well. I agree with what Lady says about not worrying about the past or future yet. Just hang on tight to what you've got today. Just Say N.O.P.E. Hi GPW Forget about the past. It's done and over and theres no going back there. You are doing a great job with your quit and I know how tough these days can be. Remember all the reasons you decided to quit. Be proud of what you've done. This is not easy and you will have days that seem long and not so great, but the good news is that this will all get better. Trust me from someone whose just about done it all and wreaked havoc with abusing her body. Keep your quit. You are worth it. vicki just 1 puff away from 2 packs a day My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/17/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 113 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,547 Amount Saved: $791 Life Gained: Days: 15 Hrs: 11 Mins: 0 Seconds: 45

GPW, Don't worry so much its not good for the body. Anyone can get cancer. I personally know of 5 people who developed cancer & never smoked, 3 of these people where real heath nuts. i know of many smokers & ex-smokers who havn't developed cancer. life is a gamble, you can't go through life waiting for something to happen. Statistics... you need to realise that smokers are easy targets. Manipulated Statistics & 'scare tacticts' are common order of the day as anti smoking lobbies struggle to target the smoking especially the youth, so i wouldn't go believing all the statistics you read, however any anti smoking campaign is a good one especially if it stops people smoking as it is bad for you & nicotine addiction is no fun. Search the web if you want to know more. if i was you i would go visit a different doctor if it worries you, if only for piece of mind but honestly you'd know if you had emphysema, you'd be constantly out of breath & need an oxygen supply handy i don;t see the point worrying about your DNA, a sausage can alter your DNA but it doesn't stop people eating them!. FYI, environmental factors can effect our lives ie, .i was diagnosed with athsma (by a doctor who used test equipment) but it turned out i was just living in a damp house, i moved house athsma no more. I used to worry all the time & it's just not worth it, it pays to enjoy the hand that life deals you. even better if you don't rely on smokes to get you through. i hope this helps My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 403 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 10,077 Amount Saved: $2619.5 Life Gained: Days: 57 Hrs: 18 Mins: 10 Seconds: 4

Damn it !, i think i'm getting addicted to this site. gpw, Just think..... you too can be angry & disapointed at your husband during his quit !!!!, & he will have to quit one day. :8o: Don't cut yourself short either, you have plenty of confidence in your ability to stay smoke free otherwise you wouldn't have made it this far. :) Leigh -
I know I can't stop living and put the kids needs and schedules on hold until I can manage this psychological and physical addiction- but it would make it easier if life would just sit on hold until I feel strong again
These distractions will help you, enjoy every moment. It's offical you are a non-smoker, just work on keeping it that way - it will get easier & easier. Anyway you guys what's to be depressed about ?, everyday above ground is a good one ! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 406 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 10,154 Amount Saved: $2639 Life Gained: Days: 58 Hrs: 4 Mins: 42 Seconds: 10

GPW... Maybe you need to write down more than what you did. Be more specific about your feelings. If they are private then maybe just write yourself a letter. My last 3 days have been pretty dark but today is soooo much better. I don't feel good but I don't feel desperate and I think that is what I am reading in your words. Please keep reading today and keep yourself and your quit in tender arms. Leigh..... This all passes. I promise. I have often referred to my quit as a journey. There is a memeber here, Mike, who always says the Journey is the reward. It is true. It is a long hard road to travel but the farther down the road you get the sun begins to shine and the scenery changes dramatically. I spent a lot of time being completely depressed and a lot of time in tears. I'm afraid for me it was just part of what I had to go through to break the addiction. Don't look at your quit in terms of forever. That was too hard of a concept for me to grasp when i first quit. Look at it in terms of today. For today, this hour, this moment you do not smoke. Keep doing that over and over again. Your husband, will not understand your quit. Everyone's quit is different. People here have been through what you are going through and we do understand. Feel free to come here and post about anything. We are here to help eachother. Congratulations on 7 days. You are doing Awesome! That is a huge accomplishement! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/1/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 223 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,471 Amount Saved: $780.5 Life Gained: Days: 19 Hrs: 16 Mins: 52 Seconds: 17

GPW...take some deep breaths. You are on day 24 of your quit. It is an emotional roller coaster. Focus on your quit and focus on today. The next hour only. One step at a time. This is not the time to be analysing the past or the future. The time for that will come but it isn't now. Think about how far you have come. 24 days is over 3 weeks and that is so awesome. What an accomplishment! This is the time to be proud of what you are doing. You have quit smoking and you are successful at it. Take a warm bubble bath and relax. Be good to yourself. You are going through a difficult period and you just need to focus and get through it. Yesterday is gone. There is nothing any of us can do about it. Tomorrow isn't here yet and it will take care of itself. Stay in the moment. Congratulations on your awesome Quit!
