The door swings both ways. Glad you made it back through. There must be a lot of people who don't. I'm inclined to believe these are mostly people who let go of their support groups. gpw My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/14/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 18 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 278 Amount Saved: $72 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 17 Mins: 7 Seconds: 38

Tennielle, I agree keep trying to quit and ultimately it should stick. You gotta have a good mind set to start with though. Something along the lines of "I ain't gonna have one cig no matter what just for today". Make the same oath every day for a while and before you know it you got some time under the belt. Welcome back and we are all here to help in any way we can. hey there.......welcome back. I think what tends to help the "freak outs" is posting as much as you can, and reading a lot too. I had my own "wee freakout" and was able to pull thru it knowing I had so many people here who were ready to virtually sit on me to keep me from slipping. The are a great group of people..... good luck with your quit! Well I'm not new here, but I'm gonna give this another go. I promise not to disappear this time. I have a habit of doing that. I get all ready to go...get support...quit smoking...freak out...and run! But I always come crawling back. I've caught the quit bug and the only cure is to quit smoking....so I am going to keep quitting till it sticks... Tennielle, Here is a little quote about persistence... Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education alone will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. --Calvin Coolidge-- One other thing... I made a post about people "trying" to quit. Here is a link to it. The replies are great!! Hang in there and best wishes. Be Strong. Hi, Tennielle. We're going to hold you to that promise. :) As long as you continue to try, that is what is important. Practice makes perfect. This time, when you freak out let us know and help. Don't run (you promised). Read and reread the first and last sentences of Golferman's quote. Everything in between helps, but the ends are the real substance. (That quote's always touched me, Joe. Thanks.)
