great post - thanks for reminding us... it's kinda like christmas when we were kids. It always came, but, regardless, we were all anxious, seemingly counting every second of December about to go out of our minds with anticipation (least that's my recollection). Then, the older we got, the more we were able to savor and enjoy the anticipation of the season - the time flies by now. Much the same, we need to appreciate this time (this is us growing - right before our own eyes - remember the child within?), knowing it will pass. We must hang on. After all, it is a matter of life or death. thanks again - fish My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/21/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 35 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,066 Amount Saved: $175 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 14 Mins: 24 Seconds: 29

Joe, You pretty much summed up a perfect quit. A perfect quit does not necessarily mean a fast, withdrawl free, quit. A perfect quit starts with patience and includes all the bad stuff right along with it. That way, you are less likely to fail your quit, because you know what all the bad stuff feels like that goes with a normal, patient quit. Did I just make sense?...lol. Oh Yeah...Attitude fits in there somewhere. Thanks for the great post. Yes patience is a virtue. It is also something you never want to pray for. :8o: I remember early in my quit I just wanted someone to speed my meter up so all the horrible withdrawal stuff would be over with. Unfortuantely, it doesn't work that way. Thank you for another fine inspiration. You always make us stop and think. Hi gang, I found this inspirational message on the net.. Listen patiently, and you will better understand. Work patiently, and you will build lasting value. In patience there is power. In patience, there is the expression of real and abiding love. Patience melts away painful and destructive anxieties. Patience helps to avoid careless mistakes. Patience reveals a depth of strong character. Patience provides comfort and refuge for those who are weary of the world's frustrations. Patience is crucial to persistence. And with sufficient persistence, any goal can be reached. Each day, there are opportunities to make use of the power of patience. As you strengthen your patience, so do you greatly expand the positive possibilities for your life. To have patience is to be patient. To be patient is Bearing or enduring pain, difficulty, provocation, or annoyance with calmness. Quitting smoking is difficult. Quitting smoking can provoke undesirable outbursts. Quitting smoking can bring about annoyances. In this world we live in today, we are so often in a rush. Go here. Go there. Eat quick. Get a little sleep. Go. Go. Go. Its time to slow down folks. We all want everything now. Including our quits. How many times have I read on here where someone who is quit wondering why they still have craves after being quit for 3 weeks? Quitting smoking is about patience. Calmness. Persistence. This is a simple message in a simple post. Give your quit time to grow and develop. Let it have a life of its own. Dont beat yourself up with anxiety because you are struggling a little bit and youve been quit a month or two. Quitting is a lifetime commitment. Be patient. Just live your life one day at a time and be quit one day at a time. Be Strong. Be Smart. Be Quit. Joe Knowledge Replaces Fear Illegitimus non carborundum est My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/15/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 255 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 6,383 Amount Saved: $624.75 Life Gained: Days: 44 Hrs: 16 Mins:
