Hi Angelic- Thx for the encouragement, you too! Actually was planning on taking a week or two to head for my favorite vacation place (in Malibu...right on the ocean) but something is telling me - wait! this is a New Quit, protect it!! So am going to trust my intuition and stick close to home and to this website... at least for now. I'll know when the time is right for me to go... Let's stay in touch, dear one:) And if there's a trigger of any kind, just say N.O.P.E. Blessings xox

Hi Angelic- Thanks so much for the feedback about waiting on the vacation... Something just tells me I will be too tempted and its just too soon. So gonna wait and hold my Quit nice and tight in my own safe and sacred space here at home. Ya know, I dont know if this will help anyone else, but tonight after dinner I had a minute's thought of wooo - a cig:) -so I just close my eyes, and picture that old cig and take an imaginary puff, and watch the smoke blow out (in my mind of course!) and that takes care of that! Strange it may sound, but that has gotten me thru some challenging moments so thought I'd share it... It's interesting what works for each of us isn't it? You won't find me near a real cig, but my "movie in my head" sure works and that drag is just divine after a meal... Well, Angelic - I'm right here for ya, and I may call on u too... so together, we have it made!! N.O.P.E. NOT EVER AGAIN))))) Blessings and Light- Danita xox My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 8 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 314 Amount Saved: $19.2 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 3 Mins: 56 Seconds: 19

Hey Annie - having a master's degree in procrastination, I am probably being cheeky in saying this. But, it took me about four months from when I seriously decided "its time" to actually quitting properly. In that time I have done damage to myself - I'm yet to be evaluated properly, but I may have early emphysema. I am only 43 and run 20-25km a week, and thought of myself as very fit and active. But you know, smoking catches hall of us eventually. I just hope I haven't left it too late that other nasty things may catch up with me later. I am not especially trying to use scare tactics, but basically that was what motivated me in the end. Whilst I had no side effects from smoking it never even crossed my mind to give it away, (junky smokescreen thinking!). Once I did damage, i scared myself and found the motivation to give up. Don't let it get to that stage - do it NOW!! Read Kizzer's posting in one of the other folders, that says it all really. Good luck with your plans. Get some information and support, this is the ideal site, its got all the tools, and get stuck in!! Good luck my friend!!

Hi back Angelic - probably sounds silly, but I'm not that distressed about my wee little slip -it really brought home to me that turning to those "thingies" didn't relieve one little piece of stress from my current situation. If anything I'm probably MORE stressed now than I was back then (multiple family issues hopefully to resolve soon). What I have found is that its not that difficult to stay away from the "thingies" - its really about adjusting the mindset. I am happy that i have been smokefree for around 50 days even though the meter had to return to zip after that one slip. Someone else's quote, but I liked it - yard by yard is hard, inch by inch is a cinch!! Take care my friend.

Angelic, You go girl!! You can do this. I quit on January 24th and lasted 40ish days. Stress reared its nasty little head, and I caved in for ONE day, (so sh***y with myself!). I resumed immediately and started again On March 6, so we are probably not too different in dates. I realise you just have to wrap that quit around you and hang onto it with everything. This is once in your life when its good to have tunnel vision - just look straight ahead and keep going, do not pass go, do not collect $200, just stay on that path of NOT SMOKING. Hey its nice to meet you and wishing you every success with your goal.

Annie my boyfriend and I did the same thing marked the our quit date only to have it go by. Then my son asked what are you waiting for and I couldn't give a good answer so I picked up the phone called a laser center they had an opening the next day we went and I'm now 25 days smoke free. Just do it and take one day at a time! Angelic welcome aboard and good luck! You March quitters are really great! I can see that you all are going to make a terrific support group! Anne.. post at any of the forums that you prefer.. we(SSC members) will answer your questions and help you through the tough times. The longer term quitters have some great answers (not me yet.. lol)and suggestions. And don't be afraid of quitting.. read the recommendations for getting ready to quit and then just do it. Clean your car out and clear your house of cigarettes and ashtrays.. then don't ever smoke in them again. (My son cleaned mine out and I watched with a cigarette in my hand.. I quit an hour later and have not looked back). If you really want to quit.. you can and this site will make it much easier for you.. post daily.. stay close.. after a week.. you will wonder how you ever did without this site.. it seems to be theraputic (and free !!) Welcome March quitters.. I see great things for you all !! Hang Tuff !!
