Angelic, Take a few deep breaths. I know it must be frustrating to be in that situation, but you already know that smoking won't make things better. Protect those 11 days with everything you've got!!! They are precious! They are valuable! They are the start of a successful quit! Hang in there. You did a great thing by coming and posting here. Vent to us... we can take it! ;p Crave the Quit!
I just wish that whether or not people understand they could still give some freakin sympathy but I guess not
Angelic, Have you ever had any friends quit smoking while you still smoked? I did. About 7 years ago, I had a roommate who quit smoking while I still smoked. Her b/f and I did everything we could to get her to go back to smoking. He and I made bets on how long she would last, I smoked in front of her and made sure she knew how much I was enjoying my cigarette. She went back to smoking within a week. Was I being a bad friend? Probably. Did I think so at the time? Hell no! I was protecting MY addiction! I no longer had my smoking buddy and I felt like MY addiction was at risk... so I did everything I could to get her to go back to smoking. No, it wasn't right, but it was the actions of an addict. Your mom can't and won't understand where you're coming from, nor will she offer support. She's probably jealous of you for being able to do something that she hasn't been able to do. She probably thinks that if you're successful at your quit, then she'll have to quit too, and she might not be ready to do that. Like Rusty said, "your mother has nothing to do with your quit. Your quit has nothing to do with your mother." You must find a way to separate those 2 things. You've got a great quit going! Keep up the awesome work! Crave the Quit! Hang in there, don't blow your wonderful quit. You know your mother is probably jealous because you quit and feels betrayed by your quit. Don't look to her for support, she isnt going to give it to you. Post here and we can help you through this. Don't give in and smoke, it will only make you feel worse thatn you do already. Most people who smoke will not have any sympathy for you and most people who never smoked will have any sympathy for you either. BUT we all know how hard this is and have all the sympathy in the world for you, keep reading and posting and you will get through this, or go for a walk or take a long soak in the tub, take deep breaths, you can do this. Angelic, Wow we have the same Mom! Sounds like she's playing the victim role and is being a little selfish. Trust me,,,I totally 100% underst and feel 4 what you're going through :( Unfortunately the truth is that if you give up and give in now, you'll be just like her in the fact that you'll be playing the victim role. Go ahead and download her stupid sites,,,ONLY BECAUSE IT WILL GIVE YOU SOMETHING TO DO. Next, stand up to your Mom for yourself and tell her that tomorrow is for you and you won't be doing any downloading of anything for her tomorrow. Then tomorrow plan something nice for yourself as a reward for getting through today. When I was early on in my quit I rememer I went to Barnes & Noble cuz u can't smoke in there and it kept me busy and took my mind off things for a couple hrs and the best part was the starrbucks! Just an idea. I don't know where u live but if I still lived by the beach I would reward myself by going to the beach and getting myself a little serenity. One thing good to know is you don't need your Mom or her approval to help you quit smoking. You have all of us! :) And 1st and foremost GOD will help you if u ask him :) Also I pray for my Mom and then try to let it go cuz I can be co-dependent to her very easily. So....get to downloading LOL or if you really don't want to then don't and take yourself to Barnes and Noble or something! And while your there check out Alan Carrs book,,,The Easy Way To Stop Smoking". It's only $15 bucks :) Then get your butt back in here tonight and let us know how you made it through today without smoking :) You're a non-smoker now, so deal with it girl! LOL you can do it! No matter what don't lite up... Keep on keepin on...
