JuJu, Thank you for sharing this story with us. I strong believe that as yound children - if our parents smoked - we wanted to copy them and be like them. Which is essentially what happens. Melanie ____________________ The SSC Support Team

My parents smoked, My Grandparents smoked, Who knows who else along the "family tree" smoked. My 25 yr old daughter smokes and i think my 18 yr old daughter smokes. Someone usually (not always) influences us to smoke. This chain MUST be broken. For the love of God...we do not want our children or grandchildren to carry this on. Lets give them LIFE to carry on. How many of you can relate to this? Love you all! :)

my story is just the opposite, I am the only one in my family that smoked, my parents did not smoke, neither did my grandparents, my sisters don't smoke, my children don't smoke,my grandchild does not smoke, I was the black sheep in the family, but now I can say I don't smoke either..... JuJu, Congratulations on your 6 days and I know that it has been tuff, but you have a good attitude and I like that. And I agree it's time to breake that chain. I am so happy there are so many young ones on here. I do believe the word is getting out. Stay close to the site and read, and post to let us know how you are doing. You will find the support you need with kindness. I'm so glad you started this thread. As I said on another thread I started smoking when smoking was cool or so we thought. Everyone I knew smoked and I still to this day remember how horrid it was when I first started smoking the dizziness, coughing until you almost throw up. But that didn't stop me. And then pretty soon it didn't bother me anymore. Blessings sent your way!!! :) Sunshine My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/7/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 87 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,489 Amount Saved: $304.5 Life Gained: Days: 12 Hrs: 14 Mins: 26 Seconds: 27

Hi JuJu, I can relate to you, my parents smoked, grandparents smoked, great grandparents smoked, that is as far back as I can go. I was one of seven children, out of the seven children four of us smoked, I am the last to quit. But I am so thankful I can say that none of my four children, and none of my eight grandchildren smoke,so go figure. I'm so thankful the chain has been broken and I am going to believe that none of them ever think of smoking. Because I did not put forth a good example. JuJu, are you a smoker? Blessings sent you way!!! Juju, 4 days quit and doing well. You just have to keep going one breath at a time. You can break the chain in your family and start a new chain for others to follow. Don't push them they will come on their own from your marvelous example. Be Proud! Be Confident! Be Careful, no slipping, no listening to the demon. Keep your mind on the positive aspects of your quit. Go over your list several times a day and feel yourself grow. It's great to be free.
