Weaning off of Gum/Lozenge

18 years ago 0 28 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Hey everyone. I agree with Ruthann. If I had to buy lozenges and do three of those bad boys a day forever(which is where Im at right now), I'd be a happy camper. No biggie, gimme more of that. Much better than a pack of marlboro's on a daily basis. I'm thinkin' I'll eventually get sick of these things.

I have been going back and forth between the 2mg Nicorette Gum and when I have a strong craving I use the 4mg Lozenge. I actually like the lozenge better than the gum, just in terms of taste and usage, so next time I buy more, I'm getting the lozenge. My question is, how long do I wait to switch to the 2mg Lozenge? It's been 5 months for my quit and I still chew a couple pieces of the gum every day. It's the only way I can get past the cravings, so if I have to chew 2 or 3 a day forever that's what I will do. It has to be better than smoking. I haven't tried the lozenges, maybe I will because your mouth gets worn out chewing all the time. Whatever it takes keep up the good work. the lozenges were my saving grace. after a few weeks the 4mg just seemed to be to much so i stepped down to the 2mg.i felt like i didnt need them at all but i had stopped programs early in the past and failed my quit.by the end of the 12 weeks i was not using near as many as the directions said and stopping all together was basically painless. The directions are in the package. How much you smoked determines the strength..2mg or 4mg. hi CemS, According to the lozenge direstions, there is no step down to 2mg. You use the 4mg if you used to light up within 30 min of waking and the 2mg if you waited more than 30 min. The way you wean off the lozenges (just like with the gum) is to use less of them each day. When you get the lozenges, please read over the direction carefully as they give much more detail than I just did. Keep it going...
