After 33 days, I'm still in the chocolate phase. How I wish it were salads instead!
Like you RD, I quit before - about 3-1/2 years ago, and lasted 2-1/2 years. I was a moderate exerciser at the time (even when I smoked), and for some miraculous reason, didn't gain any weight ... that time. I was a little overweight to begin with, so 6 months after I quit smoking I joined a weight-loss support group and spent 7 long months to lose 25 pounds.
This time is a different story. Because I stopped running soon after I relapsed last year, I did gain - about 15 pounds - most of that even before I quit.
I have started running again, and I know it will take some time, but I'm hoping to work my way back to the shape I was "before", meaning before I made one of the biggest mistakes of my life by starting to smoke again.
So, back to the subject. Other than chocolate, about the only other thing I've been having that I don't normally want is beer, unfortunately. I've probably never drank a whole beer at one time in my life (I am 44), but lately it's been tasting really, really good.
Hence the weight gain and the need to run.
I'll check back with you in a couple of weeks to see if I've moved on to other food groups - preferably healthier and less fattening ones.
Take care,
sushik
