Thanks Shevie- I wish I could unzip my chest and pull my lungs out sometimes....craving that inhalation is too much. But, then I remember 2 days after I quit I had no more coughs or wheezes. I wish I could forget I ever smoked. Admitting we're addicts and not just persons of "habit" is tough, but true. NOPE

Welcome Rob Congratulations on Day 17. Yeah its tough and it does get better. There are ups and downs. I have quit cold turkey and I am at this moment, up and glad and very happy. Life changes and this site is a great resource to work out all of the stuff as change happens. Looking forward to sharing the journey with you. I remember the coughing, wheezing, gurgles, and rattles too, Bob. In fact, every day I try to remember in as much detail as possible what it was like to smoke. Not the "good" part that Ol' Nic would like me to remember, but the reality: The heat on fingers, mouth, and throat. The burn of smoke in the eyes and going down the throat. The not being able to laugh past the first "ha" without breaking into a hacking fit. The sting in my sinus cavities. Remembering the details of smoking will still make me cough. It was a great crave killer. Never forget the truth of smoking, Bob. Hold tight to the reality and use it to your advantage if things get rough. Hi, Rob47. Congratulations on 17 days quit and welcome to the SSC. Yep, quitting is hard. Won't try to kid you on that one. But it can be done. Many here are doing it, I've done it, you can do it, too. I don't have NRT experience (used Wellbutrin, myself), but regardless of what quit method you use it all boils down to three things: attitude, determination, and commitment. This site's Online Quit Program is fantastic; loaded with lots of tips and techniques for a sucessful quit. You've embarked on a fantastic journey for your life, Bob. Stay close, read much, post often. Let us know how you're doing and how we can help. And kudos to you for posting your quit meter. :) Shevie My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/23/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 290 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,819 Amount Saved: $1102 Life Gained: Days: 54 Hrs: 5 Mins: 56 Seconds: 3
