Hang in there hon! You can do it!! I never thought I'd ever be in a spot where I had to quit either, but when I couldn't breathe and had to go to the E.R. on the 10th of Jan., that was it for me! Thankfully my husband, a NON smoker, found out about the cold laser therapy treatments and I'm on my 4th one now. Been nicotine free for 9 days now. It hasn't been easy but I will swear by the cold laser treatment. Its gotten me through the hardest parts of it, along with bags of hard candies and Tootsie Roll Pops. I'm sending my best wishes and warmest prayers for you. thanks guys. i really do hope that this first day is the hardest. otherwise, i'll end up going insane! :) i think i'm ok for now. i ate lunch and am chewing this piece of gum to pieces here. we'll see how the drive home goes. 30 minutes in the car with some crappy music craving a cigarette. i want to quit so badly i even wrote NOPE on my hand to look at when i have a craving. i just gotta hang in there and crave the quit instead of the cig. this is my first real day without a cigarette. i made it through this morning just fine. i even made it through my morning break without one, even though i had an intense craving. i thought the craving was gone, because i normally don't need to smoke after my morning break until i leave work at 2:30. but right now, i am about to hurt someone! this big roaring beast just leapt up inside me and is screaming for me to smoke. it's making me so mean to the point i have given up talking because these nasty thoughts are just brewing in my head. i'm going crazy! Siomarie27, I wish you all the luck and hope you will make it. Everyone is right, the first week is really bad but if you make it through that, the worst will be over. We have all been through it so when you need someone who will accept all of your bad days, you need to come here. We will listen and give you any advice you need to make it through the toughest time. As the guys said the first week is usually the worst. You have to keep fighting siomarie. Take it just one day at a time and as one of the guys said in their thread - every day takes you further and further from the desire to smoke again. AND WE HAVE ALL BEEN THERE (and none of us died as a result:) Peter

No no no!!! That's not what I meant!!! If that tag line is what helps you stay quit, then that's great!!! I often "steal" other people's lines or sayings too and say them to myself often... like for instance, a member here, Ros, said once, "Rejoice in your freedom, rather than mourn for your slavery." I liked that so much that that's my screen saver. I read that every single day because I liked it so much. Please don't think I was mad that you were quoting my tag line. Siomarie, What Shevie said about me is true... I DO wear a N.O.P.E. bracelet on my "smoking hand" to remind me that I quit. Now, it's more to show the pride that I have in myself for quitting and I use it as a testimony to anyone trying to beat this addiction. And yes, my tag line is "crave the quit" and I have to remind myself of that daily... that I have to WANT this quit. That's not to say I crave anymore... I don't... but it reminds me of where I came from and what I've accomplished. I say all of this because these things have helped me to stay quit... I totally recommend getting a bracelet that says NOPE and find a tag line of your own to say to yourself whenever you're having a rough time. It really does work. You're doing great! Keep it up! Siomarie, You're not crazy... you're an addict like the rest of us. The first few days are rough, but you CAN do this! Believe in yourself! If you make it through this, you will be one day closer to never feeling like this again! This doesn't last forever, but the first few days are rough... but quitting will NOT kill you... SMOKING WILL! Just keep that in mind. Hang in there, do your deep breathing, chew on a straw or gum or suck on a piece of candy. I promise you that things will get better.
