i'm sure cuz tomorrow's "THE day", i'm too keyed up to be sleepy...but i'm also afraid to go to bed because i know that when i wake up i won't be able to have that first morning smoke. i've read a lot in these posts about sleep disruptions.....and i know that nobody ever died from a lack of sleep~~~ i guess i'm just worried that i might be losing my "best friend/worst enemy" all at once. if you have suggestions, i'd be happy to hear them. Hi JoluvShugs, Hope things go well today! Best friend/worst enemy? I can assure you that you are not losing a friend. The whole concept of "giving up smoking" is a falsehood as it suggests that you are denying yourself something that is 'pleasant'. Yes, it may be a difficult journey at times; this is the start of your life as an ex-nicotine addict and perhaps the most positive thing that you've ever done! And remember that things only get better given time... All the best to you Mr Ed :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 91 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,736 Amount Saved: 682.5 Life Gained: Days: 15 Hrs: 4 Mins: 56 Seconds: 40

Hello joluvshugs - My suggestion is to look at the morning as quite literally the first day of the rest of your non-smoking life. Celebrate your decision to love and take care of your body as it has taken care of you. Find and take the time to define each positive, and celebrate each one. Phew, you are still up! I am about to go off to work (7 am here!) but you have to remain positive at all times. It really is great to not be a slave to smoking, yes there are challenging moments but just keep focussed on all the good things and you will get there. I hope you do not read this right now - because you have actually gone to bed. Don't worry too much, I found that the anticipation was much worse than the reality. Good luck for today, just remember that we are all rooting for you. joluvshugs hi, Maybe just take it a minute at a time. 20 minutes after quitting: Your heart rate drops. Or an hour at a time. 12 hours after quitting: The carbon monoxide level in your blood drops to normal. Or one day at a time. 2 weeks to 3 months after quitting: Your circulation improves and your lung function increases. It's worth it. :) You have a lot to look forward to! Be brave. Good morning! (at least I think it will be morning by the time you read this) Congratulations on your decision and welcome to your incredible journey towards freedom. Stay very close here to this site for the first week. Withdrawal is nooooo fun, and if you are like I was, all semblance of emotional equilibrium will leave you. Nicodemon will be yelling in your ear about why maybe now is not the best time to quit. Ignore him. Listen here to all of those who have gone before you. This is possible. This is the best decision you have ever made for yourself. Scary? Yep Difficult? Yep Lethal NO!!! Worth it? OH YESSSSSSSSSSSS! Once you taste the freedom from slavery, you will wonder what in the heck took you so long! Best wishes.
