Hi Patches Everything you said is true. I had known for a long time that I was a slave to my addiction. It is a very hard thing to quit, but I know that it will be well worth it. Keep in touch and thanks for the post. It's always good to see those who have quit and stayed there. vicki just 1 puff away from 2 packs a day My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/17/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 95 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,820 Amount Saved: $665 Life Gained: Days: 12 Hrs: 23 Mins: 47 Seconds: 43

Hey Patches, I'm glad to see you checking in and still quit! You were so instrumental in my early quit with the story of your mom and all of your encouragement. I'm glad to see you here and to hear of the success of your friends and family. 6 less smokers is definitely awesome! That was a great post. Good to see you again. Crave the Quit! Hi everyone. I am just checking in. Its been a while. I have been smoke free almost 9 months and it still amazes me. My secret to success is the one rule = N.O.P.E Since my quit 8 friends and family members have attempted a quit. So far 2 were not able to stay quit but plan to try again. The other 6 of us are still quit. I am so very proud. The best way to lead smokers into quitting is by quitting yourself. Telling them the wonderful things about quitting is nice but there is nothing you can say to make them quit. And, I have learned that almost all smokers want to quit, they just dont always share that info. One last thing. Being a smoker means you are a slave of your addiction. Yes, a slave. Your addiction tells you when you will step outside and smoke, when you will stop what your doing and smoke. Your addiction tells you to make arrangements for the smoke break while scheduling things on your calendar. I was once a slave to this addiction. Now I can just live like a normal person and not have to worry about scheduling time to smoke or being disrupted by my addiction...especially on a cold day...I dont have to stand out in the freezing cold to smoke. If your thinking of quitting...just go for it...live by that one rule...later you will be so glad you did it.
