I focus on doing a four part breath...inhale/hold/exhale/hold...ya-kinda like the act of smoking-except healthy and natural. This also helps because I relized that I tend to hold my breath or breath shallow when I am stressed... So, "breathing has saved my life" LOL

Thank you Riverdale Man for this bump! I was just thinking of posting this question this morning! This is the one thing that I have struggled with from day one. I need to replace the missing "thing" in my life with something else. Especially on the weekends, where time is forever......... I've tried to do some "projects" around the house, but I dont feel like doing that anymore. I am a stay-at-home Mom, and all I do is clean the house, so I dont feel like doing anything with the house.... I go for a walk everyday. I eat a lot. Other than that, I'm stumped. I look forward to reading some of the ideas. I noticed yesterday that whenever I have that spilt-second thought of a smoke I automatically take a deep breath and it goes away. It's nothing that I trained myself to do, it's just how my brain is coping. Works nicely. On occasion the thought will linger a little longer and THEN I'll consciously take a few extra deep breaths. gpw One drag is too many and a thousand, not enough.

I traded my cigarettes for water. I drink it all day. It is allowed at work, it does not smell bad or make me smell bad and my skin looks great!! Thanks Mike! I also do the the deep breaths when i get a craving and that seems to work out well for me. Anyone have any idea why that works?? All i my head? or is it something with the extra shot of C02?? I don't know.. i really feel like i'm doing good but i do have the junkie thoughts every so often but nothing i will act on. Since I quit... I do yoga once a week. I've been playing a lot of golf - walking. I am training for 10000 meter races. I am going to church and talking to a counselor. I am reading a lot more. I've been enjoying the breath that I can breathe again. I am replacing the negative thinking that kept me smoking for so long with the positive thoughts that will keep my quit. Instead of worrying about the past and future I am getting better at concentrating my attention on the present. And, lastly, I utiilize this very helpful resource of SSC. life or death, live or die. there is only do, there is no try. choice puts the free in freedom. keep on keepin' on - fish My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/21/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 92 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,771 Amount Saved: $460 Life Gained: Days: 11 Hrs: 22 Mins: 40 Seconds: 37
