Dear Jan Please try to hang in there today. Day 3 was one of the worst for me and I did not have this wonderful group for support. You can do this. I know that I think I almost even picked fights with people on day 3 just so I could use the stress and or fight as an excuse to smoke. This is YOUR quit, so don't let anyone take that away from you. I am proud of you for making it 3 days. Stay Strong. Jan...Breath in and out. Try to think of something relaxing. You are right that smoking WILL NOT help you. You can do this!!!!!! Close your eyes and breath. Feel your lungs filling up with clean fresh air. Do whatever it takes just dont smoke. Let all your frustrations out right here. We are here to listen and help!! Hi, JanA. Keep your head about you. You've already expressed the basics of what you need to know: You need to stay right there where you cannot smoke, that picking up that filthy yucky thing won't help, stress is no reason to start again, keep reading. Breathe deep and concentrate on those things you've already said. If you can get a straw, cut it to the length of a cigarette, fold and crimp (bite) the "fire" end until it feels like a cig when you suck on it. It makes a great prosthetic, plus you can "smoke" it anywhere. Hang in there, JanA. You can do this. :) Shevie My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/23/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 302 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 6,050 Amount Saved: $1147.6 Life Gained: Days: 56 Hrs: 9 Mins: 31 Seconds: 53

Okay ..so I guess I am experiencing my first 'real' craving. I just had a 'run-in' or am going to have a run-in with a supervisor..and normally I would go out for a smoke, to calm myself. What do I do now... I am turning to you all in my minutes/hour of need... I need to stay right here. I can't move. I am mad.. but I know that picking up that filthy yucky thing will not help me. Stress is no reason to start again. I just have to keep reading I guess. Thank you all Okay so I am still angry, and I have been glued to my monitor... justifiying my quit. I have broken a pencil, drank about three glasses of water...and eyed a very large paper weight to throw. (I have refrained from throwing anything) I vow to calm down before I speak with the 'supervisor' in regards to this issue. I tend to fly off the handle. The only smoke you shall see coming from me ...would be the steam from me getting very very angry :) I vow not to smoke, not now, not this minute, not even this second, for I know that I can not, will NOT FAIL. Thanks for the msg's everyone, reading them makes me think, and forget :)
