This is the one Hummy was referring to, for anyone who doesn't get how to click on the "this". There once was a man. He walked for 90 days. He walked hills and valleys. He crossed oceans and deserts. He helped many people and many people helped him. As he was trudging along, he was collecting stones. He planned on using these stones to build a house. He found alot of stones. He knew exactly how many stones he needed to build his house. After walking for 80 days this man came upon a bridge. Under this bridge there lived an evil troll. The troll did everything he could to make the man fall into the water. The man held on to the railings with all his might and didn't fall in! But the troll did manage to cause the man to slip. When he slipped, he lost a stone. Just one, mind you. It fell in to the water. Lost forever. The man was frantic. He was so upset with himself! How on earth could he build his house without that stone? He just didn't think the other 4074 stones mattered without the one he lost! He started walking again, despondent and alone. For 10 more days, the man walked. Ten days. During that time he considered dropping all the stones, one at a time. But something made the man hold on. Those stones had cost him too much to accumulate. He thought of those first days when the hills were steepest and the oceans widest. He had worked so hard to accomplish this gathering of stones. But still, the loss of that one stone caused him so much despair that he couldn't see the amazing thing he had accomplished! 90 days after the man first set out, he came across a group of his friends. These friends helped him to see many things about his stones. Each stone had it's own value. Each one was important in it's own right. If he had had to pay for these stone, they would have cost him $869...the one he lost was less than 22 cents. That meant he was 99.9876% successful!! Do you know what that man did? He set to work trying to figure out how he could make his house without that one stone! He decided to just leave it out of one of the walls! The absence of that one stone meant the man had a window to see through! Oh, and the things he could see! The opportunities he now has! If you look carefully, you can see him n

Lady Bug I found this on another thread. This is powerful. A Big Bug Hug To You!
MOTIVATIONS to quit are children, family, our own health and well-being, finances, freedom, etc. TOOLS for quitting are NRT's, wellbutrin, hard candies, straws, ice water, deep breathing, the SSC, real life support, etc. How well we use the TOOLS we choose while keeping our MOTIVATIONS in mind is key to a quit. Throw in a little DETERMINATION and we can do it! I think I just made a new formula! heehee MOTIVATION + TOOLS + DETERMINATION = SUCCESSFUL QUIT Look at this way...if I wanted to build a new house, I wouldn't just pin the sketch of it to the wall and expect it to build itself. I would have to figure out what tools I needed and be determined to work hard and go through alot to make sure that in time, it would be built. Keep it going.... ~lbugg~
Brilliant Applause Applause Applause No wonder you are 433+ days!!! Phillip, There are a lot of awesome Ladybugg stories floating around these boards. Below is what she wrote to me when I was having a tough time at 59 days and I was ready to quit quitting. ladybugg 8/29/2005 12:29 PM Once, there was a lady messing around, taking unnecessary risks. Generally doing stupid stuff. She ended up breaking some bones. Two weeks in the hospital in traction (the first one was hell, second one wasn't quite as bad...but still heck). Then came two months in a wheelchair, going to therapy learning how to walk again. Those months were very long. It's hard to be patient when you can't do all the things you're used to doing...but your body needs the time to heal. (It's times like these you realize how much you need your friends to get through those tough times...as you can hardly go to the bathroom without help!) Now she can walk with crutches...and an occasional friend to lean on. Most of the time she's doing good, then all the sudden the pain is almost unbearable again. But she stays tough, breathes through the pain, sips some ice water....and sees it through. She's really tired of fighting it. There's still that occasional (sometime excruciating) pain. So she reaches out for comfort, or beats the crap out of her pillow. She knows that eventually she'll be able to walk on her own again. But no matter what, she knows that she will never, ever take those unecessary risks again. To do that would be to start at hell week all over again. Hang tough, Lady! Rehab is underway and your body is healing....you will walk again. ~bugg huggs~ I can walk again. :) Ladybugg is one special quitter around here.
