I was in a smoker's home the other day with a bunch of smokers. It STUNK and I know I was the only one who could smell it. I felt like I was in a wacky version of the Emperor's New Clothes. I used to think (somewhat derisively) that there was no worse anti-smoker than an ex-smoker. If you must be around smokers maybe you can find some strength in that. I did. I didn't preach or complain. I just thought to myself that smoking isn't what I choose to do and therefore is not a temptation. 3 weeks and still counting. Partner and I are still smoke free but major test coming up soon. Will soon be traveling out of state to attend funeral arrngements for husband of close friends who are heavy smokers. Will be staying at least 2-3 days in home of heavy smoker. Temptation will be incredibly difficult. Playing not to get sucked in again but know how hard it will be for me not to "just sneak one". I usually sneak when around him and nobody ever knows. This time I will know (lol) and I am aware of the "JUNKIE THINKING" syndrome. Big Big Breath on this one. I know to do my brathing and to focus on my accomplishments and how much $$$$ I've saved and all the good reasons to continue. I will keep telling myself these things. I WILL GET THROUGH THIS HURDLE. I agree...if they smoke in the house, I'd think you would do better to stay somewhere else. That temptation is too strong and certainly not worth loosing your quit over. YOUR quit is too important to just give up because of the circumstances of where you'll be staying. I'd suggest a hotel if they do indeed smoke in the house. N.O.P.E. Hi Mookie, Maybe you should stay at a hotel rather than the smoker's house. You've got a great 24 day quit going on, and it may be too soon to put yourself in such a tempting situation.
