DENISEY AND JULIA STILL FIGHTING

18 years ago 0 101 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Hi Denisey, Great to hear from you again. So proud of you and Julia. And you are right, you can't make someone give up cigarettes. I always think the decision to quit is a gradual process. And there is nothing worse than having someone nagging about it, makes people more stubborn. Know this from my brother who is a smoker, and my sister-in-law who is a non-smoker. She really naggs him, I mean badly, and she gets on everybody's nerves with her constant lecturing. Anway, looking forward to read your posts, Gaby Gaby My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/17/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 11 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 228 Amount Saved: $85.25 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 0 Mins: 8 Seconds: 49

Hi everyone, I havent been able to post for a few days but wanted to get back on and thank everyone for their wonderful posts in response to mine about "Children Teach Us...". Julia is still fighting the fight and has backslided more than I-lol. Lying, apparently is harder to stop than smoking. I noticed my little girl was going back on her word just after we hit the one week mark. Instead of acting upset, I would innocently ask her "Julia, if you are lying, that means mommy can have a cigarrette." I obviously had no intention of doing so(as much as some days I would love to!) but was just trying to get her to admit she was lying again. "okay, mom" she would confess, "I lied, I wont do it again. Please dont smoke". I will usually just say something like, "it's okay Julia. I know it's really hard for you to stop lying. Just keep trying not to do it and I will keep trying not to smoke" She always looks so relieved that I am not going to smoke because she has slipped. I guess I am finding new ways of getting cheap entertainment by messing with Julia's head-okay, I know it's cruel, but remember I am going thru withdrawls lol. Anyway, I havent smoked and tomorrow it will be 2 weeks!Yahoo! I have had a busy work week and things with me and my husband are still not good. He is smoking in his vehicle instead of my garage and has told me, we have only talked once in over a week, that he cant promise he will give up his vices. That's okay with me. I now know that he has to do it himself. Something I think I had forgotten about addiction. So...thanks again everyone. I will be around a lot this weekend and plan to post with all of you often. You all are wonderful people and I am thankful to be a part of something so positive.
