Try to not be afraid of failing. Don't give in to those negative thoughts. Try to focus on succeeding. Let positive thoughts flood your mind. If you can't push the negative thoughts out, grab some inspirational reading and immerse yourself. Grab a cheerleader off of this site and talk to them. Post. Do whatever you need to do to keep yourself on the right track. You can do it. Believe you can. And if you can't ... fake it till you make it! Hi Idybug ... I go to Google, type in words like determination, ambition, courage, etc. and just start reading away. If you know anyone that is really positive ... talk to them. Go to your local library or book store and find a book that changes your negative thinking into more rational and positive thinking ... which in turns makes you feel a whole lot better. This is a good learning tool in life for all types of situations, but can help with your goal of not smoking as well. Grab all kinds of positive quotes off the Internet ... print them out and tape them all over your house. Do whatever you need to do to keep your attitude positive. If you start to feel down ... don't wallow in it ... read or seek a positive individual out to help lift you back up.

I posted this before and I will post it again. Smoking is a verb. You either do it or you don't. Choose not to smoke and you shall not smoke. Mind over matter. Join us over here. It is more fun. I feel great. Idybug, You should know that Zyban takes a week to kick in, so plan your quit for one week after you start taking it. Make sure you're doctor is aware that you will also be taking the patch. Your medical history may be a factor here. Not all is lost, try again. It's not easy. This time, come up with a coping plan. Sit back, think of what triggers cravings or urges to smoke and figure out specifically how you're going to keep yourself from giving in. A few ideas are to stop and change your mind set. Adopt a mantra, keep a list of the reasons you're quitting with you, a list of the benefits you will get from quitting. Break the chain: instead of picking up a cigarette, pick up something else. A paintbrush, an MP3, running shoes... distract yourself with anything that you love to do. Anything that involves physical activity will also help you get rid of some of the anxiety that accompanies cravings. Keep persevering! Danielle __________________________ The SSC Support Team

idybug, I had orginally set my quit date as May 21, 2006, and i did so much research, and bought my patches that I quit in April, It was the best thing i ever did. I still read everything I can get my hands and talk to others that have quit. I work in a office where everyone smokes but me now. When everyone else is smoking. I get on the Internet for support. I do alot of breathing and go to the gym 3 days a week. You can do it. Free after 29 years.
