Great test results. You can beat the demon nic.You did beat him and you can keep on beating him.Just remember your great test results as they show how fit you are now, that is what the demon doesn't like,it's the fact that you got the better of it.Very Well Done.

As I reported last week I had to go for a stress test, well I heard today that it went very well. My Dr's was very pleased that I had quit smoking. My breathing has emproved from 68% to 108% I don't know how they measure this I just took a test to exhale all the air I had in my lungs. So I am very pleased that nothing serious was wrong. But I have had a very bad day craving like you would not believe,(OH YES YOU WOULD)that little voice in the back of my brain telling me: "IT'S OKAY TO SMOKE". And it was all I could do not to go get cig's. Finally after an hour or so I said: IT'S NOT OKAY IF I SMOKE BECAUSE I AM A NON-SMOKER. Why now, this is day 67 and I have never had cravings like I have today. I am on the patch and I will finish the program on Friday. Now I am really scared, if it is doing it now what is it going to be like on Sat??? I thought I was prepared for something like this, I have got to come up with something different. The breathing, music, treadmill, eating, cleaning house, talking with friends on the phone, and reading all the threads on this site. And nothing has helped. Some of the threads make me want to some more. Boy, do I know what they are going through. I should feel go greatful for the good health report I got and I am. But I think the little voice is telling me: "SEE THE CIG'S DIDN'T MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE IN YOUR HEALTH". But you know what it has, but my health will improve more and more and I have just got to remember that. Well I guess I am whine, whine, whine...... Hey Polly, LBUGG, and IWIN, Thanks for all the encourgement, I'm so blessed to get a good report, especially after I abused my body the way I did for years. And finding SSC was another blessing. The nicotine demon wants you to think that you are the only one that is going through this HELL. Well, I found out different from all of you. When I read Kizzer's message my heart just broke into little pieces. My cravings left after I read that. As I told NEW today I have quit hoping I am believing for all of us. Hey Golferman, no I didn't flip out, I am still laughing. And yes this quit will be mine. And we will all do it together. That is what makes this site so enjoyable. There are people from all over the world and each have their own way to quit, but are willing to help everyone. Thank you for taking the time to help me. I have read many of your threads and you do such a good job. After such a bad day I came to the site and read Kizzer's message about his friend and that is what took the cravings away. Instead of thinking of myself I was thinking of someone else. Yes, I was very happy about the results of my stress test, the Dr's thought I might have a blockage but everything is great. I was looking at your quit meter, man I can't wait to get there. Again thank you so much!!!! Smokless, thank you for your encourging words. And I want to wish you success in fighting with the nic. demon. We have got to learn how to fight back. It's not hard to know who he is, he is always encouraging you to smoke. And that it will be alright. You hang tight, and I know that you will. Believe that you can!!!! Hi Sunshine, Glad to hear about the great Dr's report. I stepped down to the 7mg last Thurday and have been having more cravings too. Maybe it will be eaiser for us once the nicotine is out of our system. I am a little nervous about next week also when I am supposed to go off everything. I was nervous about stepping down to the 7's and it is not as bad as I worried it would be. I am going to get either the 4mg or 2mg gum when I go off the 7mg patch to keep with me just in case. I think I will do the 2mg so I can have 2 pieces a day instead of just one with the 4mg. We will make it through this! Sunshine...mind over matter at this point of your quit. As soon as you get the crave, dismiss it immediately. You are in control not the junkie. You have been quit for 67 days - Congratulations - which means you know what it takes to keep going. Keep doing the very same things you have been doing for the past 67 days to get through the craves. I didn't use the patch so I really can't advise you on that but I have heard people say that when they stepped down they experience more craves, but you know these will pass. Kick, scream, yell, break dishes, cry, whatever it takes...just don't smoke. You are doing great. Sunshine... Sunshine came softly through my a-window today Coulda tripped out easy, but I've a-changed my ways It'll take time, I know it, but in a while You're gonna be mine, I know it, we'll do it in style .. Sunshine Superman, Donavan What does that have to do with your quit? Well, you could have "tripped out easy"... grabbed a smoke.. but you have changed your ways. Yes, it will take time, but your forever quit is going to be YOURS!!! Your new, smoke free life will be one that you will live in style. I'm very happy your had good news from the doc and that you did well on your stress test. Back on day 58 for me I had an awful, day long crave that I finally killed at Dairy Queen! I know exactly where you are coming from. The good news is that since that day I have not had anything even close that. Now I rarely even think about smoking and if the thought should enter my mind, I smile to myself and just let the thought keep on going... bye-bye! Keep on keepin' on!! [b]Be Strong. I think you nailed it right here Sunshine:
But I think the little voice is telling me: "SEE THE CIG'S DIDN'T MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE IN YOUR HEALTH".
The junkie in you is trying to say you're healthy, you can smoke. Recognizing it's junkie talk is good. Three months ago, your Dr's report likely would have been much different. And if you had continued to smoke, what would next year bring? You've been on this journey for more than 2 months. You know the craves come and go. You know there are good days and bad. You know that once you fight through this one, it'll be much better! Keep it going... and don't forget to reward yourself for getting healthy (it pays to be smoke-free!)!!
