Great Post Joyful I too am now almost 6 yrs. sober and I've applied the same techniques to my smoking quit that I used for the alcohol. We all have demons to face, but once you look at them they don't seem quite as bad as they once were. Keep the quit vicki just 1 puff away from 2 packs a day My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/17/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 92 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,708 Amount Saved: $644 Life Gained: Days: 12 Hrs: 14 Mins: 43 Seconds: 8

I need to say that just because we stop smoking doesn't mean life stops. We still have to deal with our emotions and after using cig's for years to escape from "feelings" pain or whatever the emotion,,,it's gonna take quite awhile to "grow up emotionally" in order to not want to grab for a cig, to escape. Acknowledge the way you're feeling and if saddness comes, let yourself cry. Don't know why it's so hard to cry and why we fight it so much?? We always feel much better after a good cry :) Tears are a gift from GOD. Just think what it would be like if we didn't have the ability to cry. It's not about quitting forever, it's about making it through just today. 1 day at a time. Forever is too overwhelming. I'll have 10 yrs sober this coming April GOD willing. But honestly,,,all I have is today just like someone who just quit today. The only difference is that I have some knowledge now that I didn't have in the begininng & I've grown emtionally and am the new me. It's the same with quitting smoking. A drug is a drug is a drug. An addict is an addict,,,no matter what the drug or for that matter no matter what substance we use to escape from our feelings. Whether it be, drugs, food, shopping, sex, adrenalin rushes,,,etc... Hang in there cuz u know you'll be happy u did. Don't let your feelings rule your life or define who you are. We are not our feelings. Feelings come and go through us and are TEMPORARY. They will always come and then go. Don't let your feelings control your actions :) Just some advice that's helped me to stay quit. No matter what don't lite up... Keep on keepin on...
