hi carla, i am quitting on the 14 may :) so hopefully, we can cheer each other on when the day arrived. i am very nervous too, probably it is the fear of failure. i have taken the last few weeks to prepare myself,my lifestyle, my home, etc. looks like all set to become a non-smoking life and environment. But yes, i still get the chill when i think of 14 May, as much as i look forward to the day. However, one thing hanging on and strong is I want to Quit, and over the last few weeks, i have been more reassured and affirmed about my reason for quitting. So i just have to keep believing now in myself and stay strong. And not submit to the fear i am experiencing. :) i also have a feeling that the fear we face is a undercover of the ciggy :) trying to distract us from the one best thing we will ever do for ourselves. hope to see you around... na My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/14/2006 Smoke-Free Days: -4 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 0 Amount Saved: $0 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 0 Mins: 0 Seconds: 0

Hi All I tried to quit in March and smoked after 3 days! I changed my name on the board to start fresh! My name is Carla and I am mommy to 2 year old son! I have smoked for 14 years. I am nervous about trying again. I want so badly to not smoke but it seems unattainable to me. I know its not and I can do it but the mind is playing with me. The 3 days that I quit were not that bad. I had bad moments but overall it was okay! Why then is it so scary to try again? So, May 15th is the first say of the rest of my life! I'm gonna need all the support I can get!

Hi Billyfrog! :) I am glad you are trying again! This is the best decision you can make for you and your son! As you already know, you have to stay strong. Adopt N.O.P.E. (Not One Puff Ever) You have to fight. And fight hard. Keep reminding yourself of why you quit. And another important thing, just take one minute at a time. When a craving hits, know that it is just a craving; your body healing; and nothing else. Take action on however you plan to fight the craving. Once it passes, forget about it. Don't hang on to it. Before you know it, 5 minutes have already passed. Keep busy. And again, only take one crave at a time. :8|: Thinking too far ahead will seem too unreachable, and hinder your thoughts of success. You can do it! I look forward to May 15th!! Please post and let us know how you are doing!! ;) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 64 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,934 Amount Saved: $209.28 Life Gained: Days: 5 Hrs: 4 Mins: 31 Seconds: 16

Billyfrog, Yes, quitting is hard but it IS doable! You can and will make it if you set your mind to it. You have to have the mindset that smoking isn't an option. As soon as you do, then you will win! Take this time to read here and prepare yourself for the 15th. This will be the fight of your life, but it's the fight FOR your life! And you are worth it! Crave the Quit! Carla, Good on you for giving it another go! Use your last experience to give you pointers on what to watch out for and try to turn that fear into excitement. Between now and the 15th you can read and study up on what others have done or are doing to get through that first week - it is a bear! Also as you smoke your last smokes this week try to break some of the associations. Skip the after meal cigarette a couple of times to get a feel for it and to plan for what you'll do once quit. That kind of thing. You CAN do this and we are all here to help!
