Do you ever feel like it's all for nothing?

Thank you, dear Butterfly swimmer. I printed out the benefits list you wrote about, and they are all so encouraging and true. I noticed you just quit in April, how is it - that you are so positive? Are you on a natural high? ;)

Hello Pam, So sorry to hear your news. My father died of colon cancer 3 years ago. He had led a healthy life and was hardly ever ill. Yes, life sucks sometimes, but let's not encourage disease and death by resorting to the cancer sticks. You understandably want the pain of this situation to go away and thoughts of your old 'friend' start creeping back. Pam, please revisit your reasons for quitting in the first place. Would your grandfather or my father want to see us relapsing because of their bad luck? Wishing you well Mr Ed My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 91 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,733 Amount Saved: 682.5 Life Gained: Days: 15 Hrs: 4 Mins: 36 Seconds: 35

Sorry to hear of your news! Yanno I struggle with that too! If I am 50-60 and die a slow painful death I will be wondering why I quit! Not that its a good way to be but that is how I feel! Hang in there

:( I am so sorry about your grandpa. Sending you Prayers and Strength. I try to think about how proud my grandparents would be of my quit -- although they have been gone since I was 7 years old. Anybody who gets to keep grandparents after that age, I consider very lucky. Talking to your grandparents is like sifting through a treasure box and finding the neatest things. Take care BFS. I know what you mean (I think), Pam. If I knew that I was going to die this year or relatively soon anyway, I'd be going out to the store and buying a pack today. I admit it. I liked smoking. We all did. I liked it a lot. I had to to put up with all it's side-effects. But....I don't know the future, and I feel I have to give it my best to break this hold smoking has on me....and does it ever have a hold on me. And that's a side effect I hate more than anything else. Dear Pam - Know that we are here for you. We can't know the future but we can make sure that the time we have left here on this earth is time well spent, smelling good, improving our health every day, spending all the time we need with our children, playing, laughing, praying and more. Wondering why you are doing this? I know that for me the quality and the pleasure and the freedom that I have in everyday, the life that I live moment to moment far outweights the prison of my life from before when I was a smoker. We get to live a better, cleaner, more fit and able life. One day at a time. Haven't heard anything about your swimming times lately? Hope you are better this morning. Good morning Pam. Glad to see you are here this am. You are doing a great job and have been so supportive here at the SSC. Thanks I look at this and wonder why I am posting yet again and I guess what I really want to say is I hope you are well, I can identify with your feelings and emotions at the beginning of this thread, I hope you can be gentle and caring and loving of yourself. I went back and read the "can't"thread it is really wonderful and a part of my little black quit book.
