For the past 5 years we have always gone to Lake Cumberland for Memorial day partying with our friends. All of my friends smoke. There were several times I really wanted to smoke as I watched them light their cigarettes and inhale and exhale. It was exactly 4 months for me on Memorial Day. I drank a major amount of coffee and treated myself with a few cappacinos. But I made it!! I was so very proud. I beat it but I know I will always have to keep the guard up. It felt good to be able to walk up the hills and not have to stop every few steps to catch my breath. What a great feeling!! We went to a local flea market and I bought a lot of books and made the comment to the seller I quit smoking and needed books to occupy my mind. She said, never go back, keep up the good work because her husband smoked all of his life and is 64 years old and has emphemsa and can't do anything. Well I felt that was an omen and felt stronger to not smoke. What a wonderful gift I have given myself.
