I'm so excited you are all here and that the group is growing. Dani, I loved your pic so much that I am using it some where else (I hope you don't mind). I am still having a hard time sleeping as well. I wonder how long this is going to last. I'm drinking a lot of water and keep running to the bathroom (TMI, sorry) and right now I'm not seeing a lot of great benefits. Hopefully I will soon. T.

I'm T from Garland, TX and I'm on the road to recovery. I can't tell you how many times I've quit and started up again. I'm the only one who smoked in the house and I used it as a means of "getting away" from the insanity. Hahaha I am married and have a 2 yr. old son so smoking was always a good excuse to get me out of the house for a few minutes of alone time. In a few hours I will have 4 days under my belt. I'm looking forward to making friends here so post and tell me about yourself! Hi my name is Dani, short for Danielle. I was born in Georgia, USA. I've lived all over the world and am currently living in Arizona, USA. I started smoking when I was 13. Peer pressure, fitting in and all that stupid stuff. I'm 29 and holding. ;p Just kidding, I am getting ready to celebrate my 36th birthday. My husband and I have been happily together for about 15 years. We have 3 children. My oldest is 11 and my youngest will be turning 2 in about a week. 2 boys and a girl. My husband and I quit smoking 10 days ago. We have both grown and changed a lot over the years. Smoking just does not fit into our lives anymore. It was doing nothing but holding us back. I'm glad we both finally saw that. We have outgrown and have no need for the crutch anymore. Yesterday I got my butt back into the gym. I worked out so hard and didn't feel like I was going to die hock a lung up. It was WONDERFUL. My goal is be as hot as I was in high school (no one looks hot with a smoke hanging out of their mouth unless they are on fire ;p ), to play sports with my kids and live to tell about it, to be able to kiss my husband without feeling self conscience about my breath, for my mother to not die thinking her daughter is a smoker (it breaks her heart to know I smoke), to keep my promise to my oldest that I will quit before I turn 36, to prove to myself that I am as strong as I think I am, the list goes on and on. Hi carpepax Doesn't it feel great to think about those things now? Before when we thought about them we were smokers ... we'd think about those reasons, but those reasons would just make us feel bad about ourselves and we'd reach for another smoke. Now when I think of the reasons I didn't want to smoke it is wonderful. It is wonderful to think that I'm actually a day closer to having all those things. It is great to not feel guilty for sabotaging what I want by reaching for another cigarette. I thank God for the courage to take that first leap of faith. We can all do this ... we really can. Cigarettes Not Smoked

Hello May quitters, My name is Mark and I quite for my health and for my daughter. She had been on me for along time to quit smoking. They teach the kids how bad smoking is in grade school. Which is great. Hopefully it will keep them from smoking when they get older. My wife is still smoking, but we have found that if we both try to quit at the same time it ends up in failure. We both get very edgy and moody and end up in a big fight. Once I get farther down the road hopefully she will be able to quit smoking also. My best friend is a heavy smoker and it has been pretty tough but I have managed not to smoke. It just amazes me how many cigarettes he smokes and that when I smoked I smoked just as many. Sleeping has been a big problem for me, but I have determined that the sleeping problems are nothing compared to the evils of smoking so I'm just dealing with it. I have much more time on my hands now. Its amazing how much of my time smoking actually consumed. Sorry this is so long but it helps me to come here and read and post once in awhile. When I think about smoking I come here and read for awhile and it keeps me on the path. The path to being smoke free. Cogradulations to all May quitters. Its a tough road but it can be done. Hi May quitters I'm Joanne from Sheffield England - used to smoke 25 a day (more at weekends) for 21 years. Just bought the patches and got started - no trigger to quit On day 18 today but last night on a social night out I confess to having three puffs of a cig - vile, smelt and I was sick - lesson learnt - it didn't make me want to finish the cig or rush out and buy a packet, the opposite infact, that's why I'm still counting this as day 18 to keep me motivated but I'am adding minus three puff's to my 18 days. Found the last two previous days really hard - today I'm brill and happy.
