Too old to quit?

18 years ago 0 2 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Well, it's only been one week (seems like a month) but I'm still smoke-free. There have been some tough moments, but anything worth having is worth fighting for. Thanks for all your support (it really does help). This is my third try at quitting and I'm beginning to think that I'm too old to fail this time. I'm sixty-one years old and I am starting to have trouble breathing. I loved smoking! But,I love breathing more. I've never joined any kind of group before now. But, I'm willing to try anything to succeed this time. I'm on the patch and this is only my second day, but I'm determined to quit for good this time.

If I'm not too young bucko than you're not too old. You'll feel like a million buckos (har har) when you start pushing all the bad stuff out of your lungs. You may feel old now, but you'll feel young with the increase in your physical ability. Do it for you. Top decision Bucko!! Definitely not too old at all (my mother successfully quit 3 years ago age 64 and she's like 15 years younger - she's radiant for it!!) This is a fantastic place for support, and I couldn't have done without it, I know... Just stay committed and come here when things get tough... Hey Bucko. I'm just a few years younger than you and I'm quitting after 40+ years of smoking. I've had three or four serious quits over the years but I've always managed to find my old friend again. The two things about this quit that are different are (1) a bout of serious chest pains that gave me a hint of what was in store with a heart attack (2) This website. Come here, read, maybe write a little, and get hooked on something else....participating in this group as a fellow non-smoker.
